When Celeste came out, she realized that she had been too impulsive.
Ever since she had come to London, she felt as though she wasn't herself anymore. She was constantly on edge and worried over nothing.
It was too irresponsible for her to make such a conclusion based on her own speculations.
How could she be sure if she didn't seek confirmation for things?
Celeste's thoughts were all jumbled up.
Something in her heart was pounding loudly and her emotions were overflowing. Her lips were tightly pressed together, reflecting her frustration at herself.
Soon, her rationality came back to her.
Celeste couldn't back down.
She took a deep breath.
And another.
It was only after a long time that Celeste finally calmed down.
Just then, her phone rang, startling her. She vaguely remembered that her phone had been ringing for a long time.
She took a look and found that it was from Maria.
Celeste answered it immediately and tried to make her voice sound normal. However, there was still a hint of hoarseness in her voice.
"Maria."
"Oh, Celeste, thank God. You have finally answered the phone," Maria also heaved a sigh of relief, "Where have you been? We are all worried about you."
"Oh, sorry," Celeste hurriedly apologized, "I'm fine."
"Why did you suddenly go out?" Maria asked.
"I'll come back now," Celeste didn't explain and just said to Maria, "You don't have to worry. Give me half an hour."
"Okay," Maria was quick and did not question her further.
Celeste quickly hung up the phone.
She turned around and walked back, suppressing all her thoughts to the deepest depths of her mind. She knew that she had to pretend to be alright.
After making up her mind, she walked back quickly.
Half an hour later.
Celeste finally returned home.
Both Maria and Ernest were waiting anxiously. When they saw her, they instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's good to have you back," Ernest's eyes fell on Celeste.
She ran out and ran back all the way. Her entire face was red from all the running, sweat dotting her forehead. She looked weaker and out of breath.
Ernest's eyes narrowed and he pursed his lips. Although there was a lot of suspicion in his eyes, he suppressed it. Despite being a man of few words, he was glad.
Celeste looked up and didn't dare to look at them. She was afraid that her thoughts would be exposed. She forced a smile and said, "Sorry for making you worry. I didn't have time to tell you that I was going out."
"Where did you go?" Maria came over and looked at her with much concern, "We were worried about you. We were afraid that something bad would happen to you since you're unfamiliar with this place."
There was no need to say more. Celeste could understand what she meant.
"I'm sorry," Celeste could only apologize. There was a trace of bitterness in her voice and she looked like she was in a daze.
Maria looked at her carefully and realized that something had happened to her. It seemed that Celeste was not in good shape.
"Celeste?" Maria wanted to ask but stopped instantly.
At that moment, Ernest interjected, "Maria, go upstairs with Celeste to rest. If there's anything, you two can talk it out."
Maria and Ernest exchanged looks. They had speculated a lot when they were looking for Celeste.
They both believed that this incident had something to do with Gary.
Perhaps she had quarrelled with Gary.
But Ernest did not say it out loud. Instead, he hinted it at Maria.
Now that Ernest knew how to not cross the line, Maria nodded and went upstairs with Celeste.
They went back to her room and closed the door.
Maria didn't beat around the bush and asked Celeste directly, "Celeste, did something happen between you and Gary? Did you two have a fight? Is that why you ran out?"
