"Then what should Celeste do now?" Ernest looked at Grace with a worried face.
Grace looked at her son and saw that he was worried sick. She secretly sighed. When Ernest told her about this, she thought that her son was very concerned about this entire issue, and even more so about Celeste.
Her two sons both valued Celeste so much. Was it a blessing or a curse?
But now, it was not the right time to be dwelling on this.
After giving it some thought, Grace felt that it was necessary to let her son know the seriousness of the problem.
"Son, they couldn't just cut off all ties by word of mouth. Celeste is still underaged, she doesn't have the right to cut off all ties with Cindy."
Ernest nodded and explained, "That's why I found Uncle Logan and asked him to find a lawyer for Celeste."
"You talked to Alex?" Grace asked in surprise.
Ernest nodded, "I didn't want to tell you at first, but
I think it's such a serious matter. After giving it some thought, I think it's better for me to tell you."
"Of course you have to tell me," Grace was serious, "You are only sixteen years old. Although you are very calm, you won't be able to be thorough about some matters."
Ernest also agreed with his mother's words, but he was more worried about Celeste.
"Mommy, can you become Celeste's guardian?"
After thinking for a while, Grace sighed, "I think it's necessary to let your father come forward and settle this."
"Dad has to come forward?" Ernest was stupefied and then shook his head quickly, "No, dad and Cindy cannot meet."
His first reaction was to be alert.
Grace smiled and shook her head, reassuring Ernest, "Don't be so frightened. I understand your father, and I also trust your father."
After so many years of being a married couple, they had long trusted each other. Their trust was indestructible.
They were husband and wife.
They would be together for the rest of their life.
In the beginning, it was because they didn't understand each other well enough and were too sensitive. Thus, it was easy for them to have misunderstood each other, and hence, a lot of bumps happened along the way.
Now, with each passing year, they had long understood each other like the back of each other's hands.
Grace absolutely believed that nothing could possibly happen between Heinz and Cindy.
It was impossible.
Even if Cindy still had feelings for Heinz. Heinz couldn't have.
"Mommy, I know you trust dad. I believe in daddy too, but I don't believe in Cindy. Celeste cut off all ties with her because of this matter. This only goes to show how bad the quarrel was."
Grace reasoned, "Celeste is a kind child. Although she is a little timid and not good with words, now that she's aware of how she was adopted and had been alone for all this time, it's reasonable for her to act as such. Your dad and I should help her get past this obstacle."
"I think looking for a lawyer is enough," Ernest insisted, "There is no need for us to meet up with Cindy."
"No," Grace shook her head, "We won't be able to settle things if we don't meet up. We can only face the problem head-on. We have to muster up our courage and face it." "Face what?" Suddenly, Heinz's voice was heard from the door of the room.
He then strode in confidently. He looked at Grace and then turned to look at Ernest, asking in surprise, "What are you two talking about?"
Glancing at him, Grace said, "We are indeed talking about something."
"What is it?" Heinz raised his eyebrows and inquired, "Can't I be a part of the conversation? Why must you guys talk about this behind my back?"
"I'll let you know now," Grace said.
"Go ahead then," Heinz came in. He sat down next to his wife by the bed and looked at her tenderly.
"Mom, I don't think you should say it," When Grace was about to talk, Ernest quickly interrupted her.
Heinz also looked at Ernest in an instant. He frowned, "Why can't you tell me?"
