Celeste's heart ached and her face turned pale. She felt her chest tightening in pain.

Gary finally let go of her. His eyes showed no more emotion, only indifference.

Celeste paused for a moment and looked up at him.

He had closed his eyes, trying to hide and bury all his emotions. Almost instantly, he opened them again. The burning anger seething within his eyes disappeared. He did a good job keeping all his emotions in place.

Celeste was not sure what Gary was thinking.

"You may leave now," Gary spoke again. His tone was really flat, and he sounded like all hope he had was gone.

"Are you going to keep your word?" She couldn't help but ask him. The expression on her face looked like she was questioning his decision.

Gary stood straight as his back stiffened.

"Yes," He said coldly, "From now on, we are siblings. The house in Oxford, consider it yours. Consider it my apology."

"I don't want it," Celeste immediately refused and declared, "I won't go back anymore."

Gary looked at her in disdain, with no sign of joy or anger in his eyes.

Unlike his emotions on the surface, his heart did not feel calm at all. All kinds of emotions were tangled up and intertwined at the bottom of his heart, causing him to feel everything all at once.

Celeste's heart was really empty, too. The despair, suffocation and pain she felt were starting to gush out.

They looked at each other, and their eyes met. Even though the room was as so quiet that they could hear a pin drop, waves of different emotions still arose in their hearts.

"It doesn't matter whether you want it or not. I won't go back to that house anymore either," He said, "If you really feel bad about it, you can spend the night with me as compensation. What do you think?"

"You...!" Celeste frowned, the anger rising in her immediately turning her face into a shade of red. She gritted her teeth and said, "You can look for your girlfriend for that."

Gary gave her a smile that looked so distant, and his eyes were filled with emotions that she could not understand.

He said, "Well, my problems will have nothing to do with you in the future. Other women will probably be better than you."

After he said that, he turned around and threw her some parting words, "Get out."

Celeste pursed her lips, opened the door and left.

However, she had only taken a few steps when she saw Janice walking towards her from the other side of the corridor.

Janice immediately flashed a bright smile when she saw her, "Wow, what a coincidence, Miss Celeste."

"Hello, Miss Simpson," Celeste kept all her emotions in place and forced a wry smile. She was trying to make herself look less haggard as she replied, "Yes, it's such a coincidence."

"Are you staying in this room?" Janice approached Celeste and asked while pointing to Gary's room.

Celeste paused for a moment and shook her head. She pursed her lips, "No, this is my brother's room."

"Oh, Gary stays here," Janice immediately grinned, "That's perfect, I was going to ask Gary out for dinner. Let's all have dinner together."

"It's okay, I'll go eat with my roommates," Celeste didn't want to be together with Janice and Gary because it would be awkward.

"Your roommate? Are you talking about the girl who was with you earlier?" Janice said, "I saw her go downstairs just now. She might have gone out to eat already."

Celeste was taken aback.

Meanwhile, Janice had already reached out and locked arms with Celeste. She acted naturally like they were really close friends and giggled, "Since we met each other here, let's grab dinner together. It's going to be fun. Don't you want to have dinner with your brother?"

Celeste paused for a moment. She didn't know how to react.

Amidst Celeste's daze, Janice gave a few heavy knocks on the door and shouted, "Gary, let's go down for dinner together with your sister!"

The door opened.

Gary stood inside the room expressionlessly.

His gaze landed on Janice's face, and then on Celeste's. Finally, he noticed Janice's arms which were clinging onto Celeste.

"Gary, let's grab something to eat. All three of us: your sister, you and I! Let's eat together. The food's on me. What do you think?" Janice smiled as she spoke. Her voice was extremely upbeat, and she sounded very excited.

"It's your treat?" Gary raised his eyebrows.

Janice felt embarrassed and immediately rephrased it, "Well, my money is considered your money. I'm sorry, it's your treat then."

That sentence sounded so misleading.

Gary narrowed his eyes and glanced at Celeste.

Celeste froze. Looking at Gary's gaze, she did not hesitate and quickly said, "Well then, thank you, Gary. I'm actually quite hungry."

"I'm also super hungry, Celeste," Janice had already stopped addressing her distantly and instead, started calling her by her name.

"Let's go," Gary said indifferently.
