True Fated Marriage novel Chapter 1402

"Gary, you finally picked up the phone," Once Janice heard Gary's voice, her voice changed into an excited and joyful tone. Over the phone, she started complaining in a lovey-dovey tone, "Why didn't you pick up my call just now?"

"Do I owe you anything?" Gary's tone was extremely impatient. He retorted instantly, "Janice, if you don't have anything better to do, get out of here and go back to Boston. Stop calling me all the time, you've caused enough trouble for me. I leave your sight for a second, but you won't stop calling me. Are you crazy?"

His reply made people feel shocked and confused. The way he phrased his words was so harsh, and it was obvious that he wanted to pick a fight with Janice.

"Wha-what's wrong with you?" Janice was taken aback and said, "Why are you so furious? Did somebody make you angry? Why are you letting out your frustration on me?"

"I'm warning you. If you continue to irritate me, I'll get someone to send you back to Boston immediately," Gary's tone was full of determination, as if he was really planning to do what he said.

Janice wasn't the only one who got shocked by his behaviour. Even Celeste felt frightened.

Despite his aggressive tone, Gary's hands still moved gently as he continued to apply the antiseptic for Celeste. He was being so vile on the line, but his actions were still gentle and soft. It was like he had two extremes living inside him.

"I don't want to go back," Janice immediately said, "What's wrong with you? You didn't answer your phone, so I thought something bad happened to you. You looked really unhappy when you left, and you only had a little bit of food for dinner. I wanted to ask if you still wanted to eat. I ordered some takeaway for you, do you want me to bring you some food?"

"There's no need," Gary said gruffly, "Don't call me anymore. In fact, don't bother me either. I didn't feel like talking to you at all since noon today, and I don't want to hear from you tonight."

"Well, then I'll look for you tomorrow," Janice didn't seem to mind, "Don't be too angry. I really don't understand you. Why do you get angry so easily? Don't you have anything better to do?"

"Get lost," Gary scowled again.

"Then I'll look for you tomorrow. Don't be upset,"

Janice said this and hung up first.

"D*mn it, this is never- ending," Gary vented his frustration by turning off his phone and tossing it aside.

Celeste was stunned as she heard their entire conversation. He went out after eating a little, which meant that he hadn't eaten anything yet.

She glanced at him, and he happened to be looking at her too.

She tried to avoid his gaze and looked at the area below his neck. He was wearing a loose shirt, and the only thing she could see were his sturdy muscles.

She started feeling flustered.

Celeste could only look at the ceiling. Soon, she started to run out of energy from the constant tensing. She couldn't help but relax gradually.

However, Gary's eyes were shimmering with dazzling sparkles, and his gaze was stuck to her face. The heat radiating from his eyes made her heart skip a beat.

His fingers were so warm that they tugged at her heartstrings.

Time was ticking by, and Celeste felt more and more uncomfortable. Twenty minutes had already passed, but he was still applying medication on her wounds.

She couldn't take it anymore, so she had no choice but to ask, "Are you done yet?"

Was he done yet? How long had it been? He was doing it so slowly that she couldn't stand it anymore.

"No," Gary said softly, "I'm only halfway done."

"It has been twenty minutes already," Celeste reminded him through gritted teeth.

For a professional doctor, twenty minutes was sufficient enough to perform a minor surgery. Even normal surgeons would be entering into the final phase of the operation, such as sewing up the wound.

However, Gary said that he had only halfway finished.

Celeste knew that he was doing it on purpose.

His patience had already turned her initial discomfort into torment.

Gary's eyes were deep and serene as he stared into her eyes. He continued his actions, "I want to apply all of the medicine evenly so that it can be absorbed fully. Don't rush it."

How could she stop feeling anxious about it? She bit her lip, afraid that some weird sound would accidentally slip through her mouth.

Yet, Gary still wanted to torment her on purpose, even if she really couldn't stand it anymore.

"No matter how much you are suffering, I'm still suffering more than you," His voice was slightly hoarse, and Celeste could sense that there was some hidden message in his words, "A man's willpower is definitely weaker than a woman's. Celeste, this is something inborn, and you should know about that."

Celeste froze for a moment and looked at him subconsciously. He was sitting next to her, and she could see everything with just one glance.

She finally understood what he meant when he said he was suffering.

"Don't be afraid. I deserve to suffer," Gary smiled bitterly, "I won't hurt you anymore. Relax."

Every word he said and every look in his eyes disturbed her emotions, turning her heart into a messy bundle.

She was trembling. She could not face him, so she could only close her eyes and turn away.

Gary's gaze remained fixed on her face. He said in a calm voice, "If you're sleepy, you can go to sleep first."

Sleep?

Celeste felt that if she could sleep now, she would have really great self-control.

How could she even fall asleep like this?

Every single reaction she made was clear as day to Gary. She could not escape his gaze at all.

Meanwhile, Gary took some gauze, disinfected her wound and wiped it clean. He continued to speak while his hands were moving, "The wounds must be kept dry so that it can heal quickly."
