True Fated Marriage novel Chapter 1486

After putting down her phone, Celeste reported to Gary with excitement. He was busy on his computer when she spoke, "Maria and Ernest are back in England. Let's have a meal with them, shall we? There's still three more days before you leave, right? Why don't we get together before you return to the United States?"

Without even raising his head, Gary continued minding his own business. He simply replied, "Okay."

Celeste felt a little dejected.

All this time, he had been busy and immersed in his computer playing games, sending emails, and reading the news.

She didn't know what he was so occupied with. At the very least, the atmosphere among them had been peaceful as they had been getting along recently. As soon as Janice left, things were warmer between them than it had been before. There were no more disputes, no more noise.

Logically, things had been good, but there was a lingering feeling of uneasiness lurking beneath moments like these, and it made Celeste feel a little restless at times.

He felt a little distant.

She knew she had a tendency to overthink things, so began reasoning with herself. Perhaps she was really looking too deep into it, Gary was with her, and his heart was with her, was there anything else that felt off?

Celeste tried not to let her insecurities get the better of her, which was why she always reflected on herself to help with her confidence.

Seeing as Gary was busy, she went into the kitchen to pour him a cup of hot tea and brought it over for him to drink.

Right as he finished sending an email, Gary looked up to see Celeste handing him a cup of tea with a smile. After taking a few sips, he put it down and reached his hands out to hold Celeste's. He said, "Why are you so kind today?"

Celeste smiled helplessly and said, "You're mean. When I don't serve you tea, you say I'm inattentive, but when I do, you say I'm kind."

"Are you feeling shy?" He clutched her hands and lowered his head to look at Celeste. "You're still getting shy so easily?"

As soon as he saw her blushing face, he had the urge to pinch her cheeks.

Gary gave a light pinch before lowering his head

to kiss her.

Celeste covered her mouth and pried his hands away. "Wait a minute. Did you hear what I just said? Ernest and Maria are back in England so we should have a meal together."

Gary laughed and lowered his head to look at her. He said, "Didn't I just say okay to eat out tomorrow? What's up with you? Did you think I didn't hear you?"

"I just feel like sometimes you're so busy doing whatever it is you're doing, I thought you wouldn't be able to listen to me." She whispered, "It's fine as long as you hear me."

"I'm busy with some work." Gary responded vaguely, as if he didn't want to elaborate. "You wouldn't understand."

"You wouldn't understand", that phrase was really hurtful.

Celeste was appalled. She sighed internally, thinking that maybe she really didn't understand.

However, she still felt a little worried. She wanted to be a part of Gary's world, but she realized that aside from being intimate, the two of them never really ventured past their inner gates.

She did not know what Gary was up to. They stopped quarreling like how they do, however, their lives were like a pool of still water, nothing ever stirred the waves.

Stunned, Celeste pulled away her hand from his shoulder and whispered, "I'm going upstairs to take a bath."

Since she "wouldn't understand", she stopped her questioning. It's not like he would tell her if she asked. If he wasn't going to say anything, she would keep her thoughts to herself, was that good enough?

Gary glanced at Celeste, feeling like she had been acting a little strange recently. She would stop herself from speaking when she had second thoughts, and this time, like all the other times, was no different as she walked up the stairs.

He frowned in annoyance.

Seeing Celeste leave with a temper, it was obvious that she was a little peeved, maybe even a little lonely.

Gary called out to Celeste who started walking up the stairs. "Celeste, hold on."

Celeste turned to look at Gary who stood on the ground floor. His handsome face was sullen with furrowed brows. Her heart skipped a beat as she asked in confusion, "What is it? Is there something wrong?"

"Celeste, tell me, are you unhappy?" Gary asked in a deep voice.

Celeste was stunned as she looked at him and denied, "No."

"Don't brush me off." Gary stood up and walked towards her. As he walked, he said, "I feel like you're angry with me. If you're feeling a little agitated, I'm willing to indulge or even spoil you. But Celeste, can you not be dramatic and just tell me what's up with you?"
