Gary returned to the third floor and tidied up before he lay in bed, but he couldn't fall asleep no matter what. He decided to send Celeste a message on the phone. He asked, "Have you fallen asleep?"
Celeste was planning her outfit for the next day's check- up. She had to wear clothes that were convenient for her check- up. After she had decided on the perfect outfit, she hung the clothes up.
All of a sudden, her phone vibrated. She lowered her gaze to glance at the phone and realised that it was a message from Gary. Celeste looked at it and hesitated for a moment before she eventually decided to pretend as if she was asleep and didn't reply.
She was afraid that Gary would come over in the middle of the night if she replied to his text.
However, Celeste hadn't expected Gary to come over in the middle of the night despite not responding.
After a while, he arrived at Celeste's room and entered straightaway.
It just so happened that Celeste didn't lock the door. As soon as Gary opened the door, Celeste saw his well- built figure standing at the door, seeming to be sneaking in.
She was stunned and immediately asked, "Why are you here? Go back to your room and sleep."
Gary hurriedly entered and locked the door. Lowering his voice, he said, "I'm worried when you sleep alone, so I'm here to check on you. It's slightly cold. Is the blanket thick enough?"
Celeste was rendered speechless.
Gary gave an embarrassed smile because he went to Celeste's room not only to check up on her.
Gary wanted to stay there the whole night.
Soon, Gary sat down on one side of the bed. He glanced at Celeste, then at her phone. When Gary turned it on and realized Celeste had read the message, he asked, "Celeste, why didn't you reply to my text when you saw it?"
Celeste decided to be frank with Gary. "I was just afraid that you'd come here again, so I didn't reply. I didn't expect you to do it anyway."
Gary couldn't help chuckling. "Fortunately, I'm smart enough to suspect that you didn't answer on purpose. If I really thought you fell asleep, you could have fooled me."
With that, he gazed at Celeste with a grievance in his eyes.
Celeste didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so she let it slide.
Gary patted the spot beside him and said, "Come here, let's turn off the lights and have a good chat. We'll just talk, nothing else. This should be fine, right?"
Upon hearing that, Celeste blushed. What did he mean by just a talk and nothing else? That just made things weirder.
However, it was indeed getting colder at night.
Celeste walked to the other side of the bed, took off her slippers, and tugged herself in.
Gary immediately held her in his arms. The warm aura radiating from his body provided more warmth to Celeste.
The warmth warmed up her heart as well.
Gary reached his big hand over to grab Celeste's feet.
It was a little itchy, and Celeste instinctively flinched and was about to withdraw her feet.
"Don't move." Gary told her, "I'll warm them up for you. Your feet are too cold. Look at how warm my hands are. It's like a natural stove."
Celeste resisted the itch and remained still.
The warm hands wrapped around her feet provided a different sensation.
Since losing the baby, her limbs had become cold. She couldn't feel warm no matter how many warm packs she used. Sometimes, she could only recover from the cold after midnight.
When Gary placed her feet on his stomach, Celeste was instantly stunned.
"Don't," she hurriedly shouted.
"That's it. I'll put them here to warm them up."
Gary's torso was like a furnace. They turned off the lights and leaned against each other. "Lie down. It's warm and comfortable for sleep."
Gary insisted on warming Celeste up, and she could not withdraw her legs. Therefore, she let him be.
Half an hour later, her feet felt warmer. Gary let go of her feet and hugged her. "Go to sleep. You must have been tired today, right?"
