True Fated Marriage novel Chapter 1561

Leah looked at Ernest in shock, and her eyes were wide open.

She felt that Ernest seemed to be implying something. Was he trying to hint her?

Leah frowned for a second before she smiled. "I think you're pretty proactive."

Ernest's eyes narrowed and he gazed at Leah silently as if he was trying to figure out what she meant.

Leah explained with a smile, "Ernest, you took the time to make porridge and take care of me. How can you say you're passive?"

Ernest was taken aback for a moment before he smiled. Leah was right.

He chuckled and said, "Actually, you're a very smart girl, Leah. You're even smarter than me."

She was able to quickly spot the loophole in his words and render him speechless.

Leah would make a fine lawyer indeed.

She wasn't a lawyer yet, but she had the temperament of one. She was quick witted and sharp.

Leah was stunned by his sudden praise as her charming eyes held a deeper gaze. She laughed and retorted, "Why so sudden? It feels like you're taking jabs at me instead, am I smart?"

Ernest smiled and looked at her with gleaming eyes. "What? Do you think you're dumb then?"

Leah had no comeback to that.

Ernest lowered his head and sorted out the cucumbers on the chopping board. His tone was very gentle. "You are very smart, and it's the truth. I think you'll make an amazing lawyer."

Leah was astonished.

"Really? What makes you so sure?"

"You have the qualities of a good lawyer," Ernest replied.

Leah shrugged her shoulders. Although she was glad that Ernest praised her, she was disappointed that he did not admit his feelings for her.

As Ernest continued to tidy up the dishes, he had a serious expression on his face.

Leah wanted to say something, but she didn't know how to broach the subject.

She wondered if Ernest was trying to force her to make the first move.

However, she had no desire to do so as it felt like she was competing with Ernest.

When it came to love, Leah felt that the man should take the initiative to confess.

The first person to confess usually loved harder, and she wanted Ernest to love her more. That was rather selfish on her end, but it was what she thought.

Therefore, she might as well not start a relationship at all if he did not love her more than she did him.

Leah gazed at Ernest for some time, and she concluded that there was no way that she would take the initiative.

Yeah, that was what she was going to do. Hence, Leah decided to play dumb.

Ernest waited for a beat longer before he continued cooking.

Meanwhile, Leah was watching from the side.

The kitchen was filled with a warm and amiable atmosphere.

Ernest asked, "Do you have vinegar?"

Leah replied, "Yes. It's in one of the cabinets, I'll get it for you."

Then, she reached down to open one of the cabinets. However, she felt unsteady on her feet.

"Argh!" She let out a cry of surprise.

Ernest immediately reached out to steady Leah before he asked anxiously, "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Leah paused for a moment and quickly composed herself. She quickly shook his head and said, "It's nothing. I just felt lightheaded when I reached down just now, and I nearly fell over."

"You're not out of the woods yet." Ernest was extremely concerned, and he pulled Leah upwards.

However, he pulled too hard, and it caused Leah to collide with him. Her forehead slammed into Ernest's chin, and she fell into his embrace.

"Mmph!" Ernest grunted in a muffled voice.

Meanwhile, Leah was dumbfounded.

Her face was buried in Ernest's neck, but she couldn't smell his scent due to her blocked nose. However, his chiseled chest muscles stirred up some interesting feelings in her.

Her mind went blank, and her entire body forgot how to move.

Then, Ernest took a deep breath and steadied his breathing.

Leah came back to earth and hurriedly apologized. "I'm sorry, Ernest. Did I hurt you?"

She was beyond embarrassed, and her tone was frustrated.
