Teresa's face got even paler. It was as if there was not a trace of blood left in her. Her eyes feared up instantly. She seemed to have suffered a massive blow.
Her lips trembled and her eyes betrayed her internal conflict. "Okay, I understand now."
Without even looking at her, he walked to his car to get the remaining bags.
Teresa remained rooted to the stop. She looked completely devastated.
She had moved here so that she could meet him more often. However, she discovered that not only did he have a girlfriend, but they were also staying together. What was worse was that she did not know anything about it.
She thought that she could make her way into Liam's life at the lowest point in his career. She thought that he would feel touched and grateful, and naturally, she would do her best to help him in his career.
However, she finally realized that it was all wishful thinking.
She could not accept it.
She turned around and looked at Liam with sadness in her eyes. As she watched him, she saw him holding something in his hand before he locked his car and left.
When he looked at her, his eyes were frighteningly calm.
It made her even more reluctant to admit defeat.
Liam walked past her, ignoring her. It was as if there was no one standing there.
Frantic, she turned around and ran after him. "Liam, what is your girlfriend's name? Can you introduce her to me?"
"There's no need for that," Liam replied indifferently. "We're very busy. We don't have time to hang out with people who don't matter. Please excuse me. I have to go now."
People who did not matter.
So, to him, she was just someone who did not matter.
Teresa laughed bitterly at herself.
She could only watch as Liam entered the elevator. The moment the elevator doors closed, she closed her eyes. Watching him leave had been incredibly painful.
She took out her mobile phone and called Johnny.
"Johnny, do you have time? Why don't we meet now?"
"What is it?"
"Let's talk after we meet. It's about Liam. I'm sure you'll want to hear about it," Teresa said. "I'm going to meet you right now."
She quickly hung up the phone, returned to her car, and drove off.
After Liam went upstairs, he made sure to put away everything nicely.
Maria was also tidying up the things they had brought up earlier while eating a dessert. "Here, try this. It's from my house," she said, holding up a spoonful of the dessert.
After glancing at it, he opened his mouth to accept the spoonful of dessert.
It was scrumptious.
"Does it taste good?" Maria asked.
The dessert seemed to melt in his mouth. Indeed, it tasted good. "It's delicious."
"You can't eat too much, or else you'll put on weight. But it's all right to have it once in a while. It's delicious, right?"
"It is," Liam replied with a smile.
"We don't have to cook tomorrow. There's enough food for breakfast and lunch. We even have some beef stew from home. I peeked at it earlier. It looks like my grandmother made it," Maria said happily, gesturing at all the food.
Liam looked at her with a gentle gaze. "You should eat more. You've used a lot of energy these few days, so you need to replenish your energy."
When she finally understood what he meant, she blushed.
He was the one that had used a lot of energy, not her.
Liam was the one who exercised every day. After studying him for a while, she went to get some of the beef stew. "You're the one who should eat more. You look like you've lost some weight recently."
Liam was usually very careful about his diet, but these were given by the Lowe family and he really wanted to try them.
That night, he had supper with Maria.
The two of them ate happily.
However, his phone rang suddenly.
Liam glanced at his phone and saw that the call was from Cindy.
Taken aback, he said to Maria, "Cindy is calling me."
