Sinclair paused and did not say anything. He seemed to be in a bit of a dilemma.
Monica continued, "If you married her back then, she wouldn't end up like this. To put it bluntly, you're the reason she's like this."
Sinclair sighed and said, "Monica, did she ask you to tell me this?"
"No, she doesn't want to see you. Although she said that, I don't think she means it. Maybe she'll be able to pull through if you see her now," Monica replied.
"I don't think so." Sinclair shook his head. "She can't get through this. Her career is coming to an end. She can't advance any further. She's going to lose everything no matter what she does."
"Who said it was about her career? I'm talking about Cindy." Monica's tone turned serious. "What if she takes the extreme route and ends up dying? What are we to do then?"
Sinclair was stunned, and he pursed his lips. Bitterness shone in his eyes as he shook his head. "She wouldn't go to extremes. You don't understand her, Monica."
"I don't understand?" Monica echoed sarcastically with a smirk. "I understand the both of you. Sinclair, you only ever care about your own interests. If it wasn't for you, she wouldn't have been so hurt."
"I'm going to see her," Sinclair suddenly said in a low voice, "I'll go see her tonight."
His words took Monica by surprise. When she had calmed down, she said, "Fine, then go and see her. She isn't too emotionally stable right now, but you should talk to her, even if it's as a friend. Tell her we can always try other things if show business isn't the answer. I don't want her to feel completely abandoned."
Sinclair nodded. "Okay, I know what to do."
Monica stood up. "We need to handle Liam's lawsuit against us. If every artist we sign with can break their contract with us just like that, then our losses will be unimaginable."
Sinclair answered, "I think so too. Well fight Liam on this. Even if he wants to dissolve the contract, it'll take months or even a year. We won't let him break it so easily. This is our responsibility to Theclair Group."
"It's good that you've thought it through. I need to go." Monica walked out, but then she stopped and said, "There are reporters at Cindy's house. Send someone to get rid of them. Don't let them see that you went to her house."
Sinclair shrugged. "It's fine if they take photos. Can't a boss visit their struggling artist?"
"Aren't you afraid that your wife will cause trouble?" Monica asked.
Sinclair paused before he smiled wryly. "She won't do anything in public. She has her priorities straight."
"The both of you are really two of a kind," Monica mused before she left.
Sinclair clenched his fists, then took out his phone and dialed a number.
"I want the reporters at Cindy White's place gone by eight o'clock tonight," he instructed.
Meanwhile, at the Lowe Group.
Heinz quickly left with Gary.
Zachary called Liam to the president's office and bid him to sit down.
Liam sat down slowly. His movements were humble and respectful.
Zachary said, "Don't be so awkward. Just relax."
Liam smiled sheepishly. He was embarrassed that his awkwardness showed.
Zachary took a bottle of water and handed it to him. He sat down opposite Liam and continued, "You just signed the power of attorney, so the lawyers will contact you if the need arises. We should corroborate our statements as there might be reporters coming to see you. For security reasons, I think you shouldn't show yourself in public for the time being."
"I think my company will use the fact that I'm breaking the contract against me. After all, I'm still under contract with Theclair Media," Liam replied.
"We've considered this, and the lawyer will help you. You don't have to worry," Zachary answered.
Liam nodded.
"Everything will be handled according to the law. We're working with the best lawyers at Jones Estate, and you'll definitely be able to dissolve the contract. As for the time frame, I'm sure that Theclair Group will stall for time," Zachary added.
Liam was stunned. "You mean that they might delay the contract's dissolution indefinitely?"
"Yes. It could take a few months to a year if they want to drag it out."
"It doesn't matter." Liam smiled. "I'm not in a hurry."
Zachary nodded when he saw that Liam remained calm and steady. "Okay, you can head on back. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay." Liam stood up and hesitated for a moment before he added, "I'm afraid that someone from their side will try and hurt Maria. Now that they know that she's your daughter, I'm afraid she'll be swarmed by reporters, and that her identity will be leaked."
