Liam was shocked by what Maria told him.
When did Maria start planning these things? Why did Liam not know about it at all? Liam wondered.
He stared at her with surprise in his eyes for a long time.
She was a little stunned when she saw him looking at her in a daze like that. "What's the matter?"
He returned to his senses and looked at her, saying, "I'm just surprised. I can't believe that you've actually planned all this."
"I wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly. My original plan was to edit the script a little further after it was completed before slowly forming a production team and getting the cast. However, since my dad helped you terminate your contract a few days ago, I immediately discussed this with Adrian once I got here. The two of us quickly came to an agreement," she explained.
At the mention of Adrian, Liam frowned a little.
As a man, he could sense that Adrian's relationship with Maria was not that simple.
Perhaps Adrian had a crush on Maria.
However, Liam's reasoning told him that Maria was not that kind of woman. It was just that he would sometimes feel possessive as a man.
Because of his possessiveness, he could not help but get worried at times.
"It seems like Adrian is quite supportive of you," he remarked, sounding a little jealous.
Maria loved him deeply, so she naturally heard the worry in his words.
"Liam, are you unhappy about us working together?" she asked, looking at him cautiously.
Liam shook his head and replied, "No, I'm just surprised."
"Surprised by what?"
He looked at her and smiled bitterly. "I was surprised that you didn't tell me such an important thing."
She immediately cradled his face. "I wanted to surprise you. You've been in a dilemma because of the contract for such a long time. I was worried that you might worry about me, so I planned this out secretly. Don't be angry, okay?"
Liam shook his head, explaining quickly, "I'm not angry. Everything you did for me makes me feel like I'm not worthy of you."
Surprised, her eyes widened. "No way? Are you doubting yourself?"
Maria was supposed to be the doubtful one in the relationship, right? Maria thought to herself.
There were plenty of times where she had thought that she was not good enough for Liam. She never expected that he would feel that way too.
She blinked, her eyes filled with worry and surprise.
Liam looked at her and shook his head slightly. "Sometimes, I don't feel confident too."
"No, you must be confident," she said firmly, determined to help him regain his confidence. "Liam, listen to me. You have to believe in yourself. You're the best. I like you so much because you excel in everything. You sing well, and you act well. You have a warm smile, and you're handsome. These are reasons for you to be confident."
Upon hearing her words of encouragement, he suddenly realized that there was a sense of disparity between them in his heart.
That was because of how outstanding Maria was.
She came from a prominent family, and despite growing up in a privileged environment, she was kind and warm.
He admitted that he felt inferior to her.
The realization also served as a reminder to himself.
It made him understand that he needed to make some adjustments to himself.
He took a deep breath, smiled, and lowered his head to look at her. "I'm sorry, I was too sensitive. I promise you that I'll get my thoughts and emotions in order."
"Are you sure you're okay?" she asked, looking at him suspiciously. "Let me tell you why I cooperated with Adrian. It's because the two of us have an interest in the entertainment industry. We're also classmates, are our courses are not too different from each other's. Besides, he has funds. We're just students, after all. One person's capabilities are limited, so that's why I wanted to work with him. Well be able to share the load and help each other out. The most important thing is that he knows the director. The director I chose was Marcello Andrews."
"Marcello Andrews?" Liam repeated, stunned. "He's famous in the industry and is known to be very particular. He has very high expectations toward his work."
"You think he's great too, don't you?" Maria asked, feeling a little proud.
"If he's the director, then this project is already on its way to success," Liam said. "I think it's great."
"I think so too. The script will be completed in three days. I'll let Marcello take a look at it once it's done. He has read the book, and he thinks that it has great potential too," she explained. "He's interested in directing it."
"Do you want to be the show's producer?"
"Being the producer is too tiring. I don't have that much time," she replied. "Let's talk about that in the future. This is the first show I prepared for you, so I'll definitely follow up closely."
"Your studies should be of utmost importance," Liam said. "You should prioritize your studies. Nothing else is more important than that."
"But to me, you're the most important," she protested. "Studying is not as important as you are."
