"What book were you planning to buy?" Celeste asked again.
From the looks of it, Sylvia did not hear what Celeste had just said.
The girl's mind was probably still on Kendrix.
Celeste couldn't help but sigh inwardly. It was hard for a little girl, who had just experienced love, to control her emotions.
Celeste herself could not control her own emotions sometimes, so it was probably much more difficult for someone younger like Sylvia to deal with her own.
Celeste was worried for Sylvia.
It was a bad idea to have a crush on one's own teacher at such a young age.
It seemed that love would always be something that was both annoying and gratifying in life.
Anyone with eyes could tell that Sylvia had fallen in love with her teacher.
However, it seemed that the teacher did not return the feelings. He had been ruthless, even heartless.
Celeste could not see through the other man. She had no idea what Kendrix's true intentions were.
Gary was probably questioning Kendrix at that moment.
Celeste thought that even though Gary usually made fun of his younger sister, he had done the right thing.
He was being a good brother, and was standing up for his own sister.
Eventually, Sylvia came to her senses. She looked at Celeste and asked, "Oh, I zoned out a little. You asked me what book I was planning to buy, didn't you?"
"That's right. Well need to go look for it in a specific section, don't we? Once we get the genre down, it'll be easier to locate it. We don't have to stroll around aimlessly." Celeste smiled.
Sylvia nodded and replied, "I want to buy some self-help books that talk about appreciation, and also some revision books for school."
"Alright, let's go find your books." Celeste started to look around the bookstore.
"Okay." Sylvia nodded.
"I think the books you're looking for are over there." Celeste quickly pointed out after seeing the signs.
The two of them walked over there together.
Even so, Sylvia's eyes were still scanning everywhere for Kendrix.
Celeste did not know where Gary was either.
She knew that Gary must have gone to find Kendrix. While he did that, Celeste continued to shop with Sylvia for the books she needed in the bookstore.
At this moment, Gary had already found Kendrix. The man was standing in front of a row of mystery books.
Gary looked at the man from afar. He was tall, slender, and looked very unapproachable.
Before, Gary had a glimpse of the man's personality. He was the type to be completely ruthless, and would not give anyone any leeway.
The man was incredibly stern.
Gary narrowed his eyes at the man's straight back for a long time. After a short while, Kendrix reached out and grabbed a book from the bookshelf. He held it in his hand and read it quietly.
Gary snorted inwardly at the action. It seemed pretentious.
When he thought about how cold this arrogant man was towards his sister, and the lack of respect he had for her, he couldn't help but sneer.
He could not believe this man's audacity to overlook Sylvia.
Gary's whole body was filled with rage. He slowly walked towards Kendrix and caught a glimpse of the book that was in his hand.
Gary's eyes flashed when he saw that Kendrix was reading a detective novel. This meant that the man was probably a young genius.
When he thought about how Sebastian had talked about this young genius working as a teacher, he could not help but smile.
"Mr. Trevino, you're into detective stories?" Gary's tone was stinging.
Kendrix turned his head to look at Gary. "Yes," he answered coolly.
He remained silent after that.
Since Kendrix did not elaborate, Gary had to find a way to get him to speak. He didn't leave and remained next to Kendrix.
They were about the same height, and they were both arrogant young men. They were also very good-looking, so they attracted a lot of attention.
Gary stared at Kendrix's book, smiled and said, "Mr. Trevino, are you a cop?" "I am." Kendrix's tone was still indifferent.
Gary chuckled, "Why would a police officer suddenly become a teacher?"
Kendrix turned to look into Gary's eyes sharply. Then he asked, "You want to accuse me of being a pervert, don't you?"
Gary's heart quivered at that. He thought that Kendrix had somehow managed to read his mind.
Kendrix glanced at Gary, smiled, and said, "I can piece together a human skull out of broken bones, you know? That being said, I can read thoughts of the living very clearly."
It seemed that the man was showing off.
"If you think that I'm just telling you this to show off, then just forget about it." Kendrix was still looking at Gary. His tone was very calm.
He had guessed Gary's thoughts correctly once more.
Inwardly, Gary was crying out in disbelief.
Kendrix looked at him. "You don't have to feel off-balanced. I'm just good at reading people. I can tell that you don't like me very much."
"That's right. Don't you think that you were being too ruthless when you were talking about my sister?" Gary asked coldly. Since Kendrix could guess what he was thinking, then he would just have to make do and get one with it.
It would be too ignorant of him to pretend that that wasn't the case.
