Sylvia was even more excited after getting a positive answer. She was looking forward to it.
The finals would be starting in two weeks. How should she start aiming for the first place?
None of this could work if Sebastian was blocking her path. It was much easier to target Sebastian than to cram her studies in two weeks time anyway.
However, it wasn't that easy to conquer Sebastian.
Sylvia was a little troubled at this.
However, she could always look for Gary and Celeste's help since they were both aces in their studies.
That couldn't work either. She was staying in the dorms.
What should she do?
Grace did tell her that she could go back home whenever she wanted to.
Sylvia was distracted by her thoughts.
Kendrix took another glance at her before returning to his books again. He was fast this time at picking the books he wanted. He then said to Sylvia, "I'm done here. Let's go."
Sylvia nodded immediately and followed him to the counter.
Sylvia took out her phone faster than Kendrix as she said, "Mr. Trevino, let me pay for this."
Kendrix frowned slightly. Before she could key in her passcode, he took her phone away. He then paid for the two of them with his own phone.
"Mr. Trevino," Sylvia called out. "I will transfer the money back to you. I should pay for it on my own."
"There's no need for that. Just treat it as my gift to you," Kendrix said, "I'm looking forward to seeing you rank first this time."
Sylvia stared blankly at him before smiling. "Sure."
Kendrix nodded.
He then handed her the two bags as they walked out of the shop.
Sylvia froze for a moment before accepting the gift.
She carried both of their books.
It was a little heavy.
"Mr. Trevino, I can't carry these." Sylvia was wondering why Kendrix didn't offer to carry the bags instead.
Kendrix seemed to have read her mind as he said, "I paid for them, so you should carry it."
Sylvia was dumbfounded.
Fine. She was willing to do it on his behalf anyway.
Thus, Kendrix was walking ahead with his hands in his pockets, looking casual and even smiling faintly.
Meanwhile, the young and pretty Sylvia was walking behind carrying two heavy bags with her, looking all exhausted yet happy about it.
Heinz's subordinates immediately sent him a photo of this scene.
After seeing the photo, Heinz said to Grace, "What a coincidence! Gary and Celeste actually ran into Sylvia and Mr.Trevino. This guy seems decent."
Grace also looked at that photo. It was obviously taken from a distance.
They would probably be discovered if they stayed too close to them.
Heinz looked at the photos sent to him, including the ones with Gary and Kendrix. They seemed tense with each other.
Heinz burst into laughter. "Gary probably approached him after spotting him and Sylvia in the book store."
However, Grace was a little worried. "Gary won't hurt that guy's pride with his sharp tongue again, will he?"
"Given the fact that Kendrix is a genius, I doubt he would take Gary's words to heart," Heinz analyzed, "I'm curious to know what Gary said to him. Look at their expressions."
Grace looked at him helplessly and said, "It seems like they were challenging each other, and Gary was at a disadvantage at first before he got the upper hand."
She was his mother after all.
Heinz nodded. "You're right."
