Leah looked at him with red eyes.

Ernest walked over and looked down at Leah. His eyes were filled with heartache.

Leah took a deep breath, looked at him, and said, "Wait for a moment."

As soon as she finished speaking, Leah came out of the room and stood in the hallway. Se looked at Norval and said, "Norval, Ernest is right. You are not qualified to stand up for me. I don't need you to either. I didn't need it before and I won't need it in the future. Please stay away from me."

She didn't think that Norval would be staying next door. When she woke up, she was surprised to find that Ernest had met up with him.

She turned and walked to Ernest.

Norval stared at their retreating backs. Even after Ernest closed the door, he did not move.

He remained still in the quiet corridor.

Norval looked at the empty corridor and fixed his eyes on nothing. He looked especially lonely.

Norval let out a long sigh. After he detected a hint of blurriness in his vision, he sighed again as if pitying himself for being so lonely.

After walking through the door, both Ernest and Leah looked at each other.

Leah's eyes were red as she looked at Ernest. She heard Ernest stand up for her out there.

Every word he said was to help her seek justice.

She understood everything at that moment.

She knew that he loved her. He truly did.

At first, she thought that there was no sincerity in Ernest's words. Later, she found that she was completely wrong.

Ernest was being sincere. She shouldn't doubt his feelings for her.

She was ashamed that she had even doubted him before.

She started to apologize with red eyes, "Sorry. I heard most of what you guys said outside. I honestly thought that you didn't really love me."

Ernest was stunned and sighed. "Did you think that I was just playing with your feelings? You think I never had plans for us to get married?"

Leah did not dare to look into his eyes because she felt guilty.

Leah pouted. "How can I do that if I have nothing to be confident of?"

"My love for you should help with that," he said. Leah was moved by how firm he sounded.

Leah was taken aback. Then she smiled. "But what if your feelings for me don't last?"
