Sylvia could sense the helplessness in Claudia's voice, which made her feel a little upset.
She looked at Claudia and wanted to comfort her, but she did not know what to say.
However, when Sylvia saw Claudia like that, she felt an indescribable sadness washing through her. It was as if she could feel what Claudia was feeling.
"Claudia," she whispered.
Originally, Sylvia wanted to comfort her, but Claudia waved her hand with a smile. "Don't talk to me in that tone. I know you want to comfort me, but I don't need it. Look at my goosebumps! Do you not know? I am a tough girl! I don't need anyone to comfort me."
Sylvia laughed. "Fine, you don't need anyone to comfort you."
Sylvia knew that Claudia said it so that she would not worry about her, but she also clearly knew that Claudia was probably hurting inside.
Sometimes, she kept things to herself, not wanting others to know. However, that did not mean that she wasn't hurting inside.
The more Claudia tried to put on a brave face, the more distressed Sylvia felt.
"The elevator is reaching soon," Claudia said, "So, do you want to head upstairs and talk to Kendrix? I'll stay downstairs for an extra ten minutes before heading up. What do you think?"
When Sylvia heard Claudia's words, she was also stunned. She did not expected that.
She was a little distracted and nodded immediately. "Yes, you talked some sense into me. I should head back upstairs and talk to Kendrix."
Claudia smiled and said, "All right then. You don't have to go down with me. Just take the elevator straight back up."
"All right." Sylvia smiled sheepishly. "Claudia, thank you. If you hadn't reminded me, I'm afraid I wouldn't have been able to get out of the hole that I'm digging!"
"There are some things that you should not fuss about," Claudia said again, "The more you fuss about it, the more you would hurt yourself. In the end, you might just end up dwelling in it and not be able to get rid of the pain."
"Thank you!" Sylvia nodded seriously.
"Perhaps you're not old enough to understand some things, but I want to tell you something. It's not easy for Kendrix to admit that he's in love, and decide to actually be in a relationship. I believe he must thought everything through before making a decision. If he didn't like you, he wouldn't have wanted to get involved with you." Claudia knew Kendrix very well, and she really hoped that he could be happy.
When Sylvia heard it, she was flattered. She immediately broke into a sweet smile. "Listening to the words of a wise man is better than studying for ten years. I think I get what you mean now."
Claudia smiled back. Then, she said, "Then you should seize your own happiness. You don't have to worry about losing something now. If you keep worrying, you will begin to lose the happiness that you have already obtained."
Ding!
The elevator signalled that it had arrived at the ground floor.
Sylvia nodded and promised, "Don't worry. I know what to do. Can you please give me 15 minutes before you come up?"
"I can even give you 30 minutes if you want!" Claudia gladly offered. She would do anything for Kendrix's happiness.
"Thank you." Sylvia thanked her again.
Claudia also smiled and said, "You're welcome. You've thanked me enough."
"Fine, I won't stand on ceremony with you." Sylvia hugged Claudia, who swiftly exited the elevator. Sylvia pressed the close button and went back upstairs.
When Claudia walked out of the elevator and watched as the elevator made its way back up. She rolled her eyes, a little speechless. Then, she burst into laughter.
She stood in the lobby and murmured, "Forget it. I'll have to sacrifice for Kendrix's happiness."
Back upstairs.
Sylvia returned upstairs and stood at the door. She took a deep breath before summoning the courage to reach out and knock on the door.
"Thump thump thump."
After knocking on the door three times in a row, she stopped.
After waiting for a while, the door opened.
Sylvia's heart tightened. She looked up at Kendrix and then quickly lowered her head, as if she did not dare to look at him.
Kendrix was a little surprised to see Sylvia. She did not expect her to come back so soon. Not only that, she was alone.
Kendrix could not help looking over Sylvia's shoulders with his deep gaze, but he saw no signs of Claudia.
His eyes darkened a little. A faint smile flashed across his face.
However, it disappeared as quickly as it came.
"Where's Claudia?" Kendrix asked calmly. He pretended as if nothing had happened.
"I asked her to give me an extra 15 minutes." Sylvia felt that there was no time to waste, so she went straight to the point.
Kendrix was slightly surprised. The corners of his mouth quirked up. "Did you ask her to wait downstairs?"
"Yes, I did." Sylvia nodded. "Claudia was glad to do it anyway. I'm sure she understands me."
"Come on in." Kendrix stepped aside only slightly to give her some space and invited her into the house.
Sylvia did not mind it and proceeded to enter the house.
She would inevitably brush against Kendrix's body.
Sylvia's faint fragrance made Kendrix's breath quicken instantly.
