When Grace pushed the door of the President's office open, she saw Heinz sitting on the chair.

His gaze was fixed on the door and it looked sharp, complicated, and deep.

So, as soon as Grace pushed the door open, she saw the man in front of her.

Startled, she walked in and closed the door. She looked at Heinz calmly until she reached the desk in front of him.

She noticed that his face was still slightly bruised, and there was still blood stain at the corner of his mouth.

She took out the check from her bag and said, "Mr. Jones, this is the check that you asked Officer Charm to give it to me yesterday. I'm giving it back to you now."

Heinz's expression changed.

He finally understood her purpose of coming to him, which was to return the check.

His gaze was still tightly locked on Grace, with his sword-shaped eyebrows tightly knitted.

She looked beautiful as always. It seemed like she was not affected at all.

On the contrary, he looked disheartened. He was even childish enough to have a fight with his best friend.

But Grace was doing so well.

Grace looked at him calmly and had no intention to avoid him at all.

Heinz was fuming. He didn't understand why Grace was behaving so nonchalantly.

It was as if he was the one who had done something wrong.

Grace took a breath and said, "No, I was not sneering at you. You humiliated me by giving me the check, Mr. Jones. It was my fault for what happened in the past. I should have told you that I have a son, and I apologize for that."

"Huh!" Heinz sneered and said, "You didn't confide in me so that I'd accept your son after I accepted you?"

"Yes," Grace nodded. "I hoped that after you've developed feelings for me and accepted me, then you would accept my son, and not the other way round."

She would not be able to bear it if it's the other way round.

She didn't want Heinz to be with her just because of his son.

"You are a selfish woman." Heinz said in a selfmocking way, "It's really ironic that I have been fooled by you all the while. "

Grace's face turned pale and she smiled gently. His words pierced her heart.

But she didn't want to think about it anymore.

If they were incompatible, there was no use in hanging on to the relationship.

She was afraid that she didn't have the guts to overcome the barriers.

"I've returned you the check and I'll make it clear. Everything is over between us. From now on, we'll go our separate ways. I hope we don't contact each other again."

"Don't worry. I would rather be single forever than to have a woman like you as my wife." Heinz stared at her coldly with a sneer on his thin lips and said in a colder voice, "I won't contact you again, don't even dream about it."
