"Two," Zachary answered.
Grace and Alice were stunned. Alice couldn't help but ask out of curiosity, "Then, who are these three people here?"
Zachary glanced at the photo and replied, "The three people here are the children of grandfather's first wife. There were three of them."
Grace's heart suddenly sank.
So this was how the family was. Her grandmother had become the three children's stepmother and she even gave birth to two children herself.
"Then, who gave birth to you?" Alice immediately asked. "Are you the child of Grandma's son?"
Zachary looked at her and returned her question with another, "What do you think?"
Alice stared at him and then looked at Grace. She couldn't help but say, "If you truly are, then we'll continue this conversation. If you're the child of the stepchildren, then we can stop this conversation now. We're all busy people and we don't have to waste time here."
"Alice!" Grace stopped her with a low voice. How could this girl speak so bluntly?
Alice pouted. "Grace, why the need to be polite?"
Grace then looked back at Zachary.
He returned her gaze and raised an eyebrow. He
gave a soft smile as if he was waiting to see Grace's response..
Grace found that this man was amazing. With only one glance, he could see through someone.
Grace did not hold back and said, "If you're the stepchildren's child, there's nothing much to talk about anymore."
Zachary chuckled upon hearing this and replied cheerfully, "Alright. Both of your attitudes are interesting to me."
Grace and Alice exchanged glances and then looked back at Zachary.
Alice became impatient. "Can you answer us now? What's the matter?"
Zachary laughed slightly and replied, "Do you guys think that I'm the type of person who would call some random woman my grandmother?"
Both Grace and Alice's attitude weren't the kindest.
However, he was satisfied because they were true to themselves.
The both of them paused, then laughed.
"So you're my grandmother's biological grandson?"
Zachary nodded. "If we are not related by blood, I wouldn't have bothered to look for you to talk about Grandma. All these years, although our grandfather was egotistic and refused to admit that he missed Grandma, his heart still misses her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have remained single after Grandma left."
"Is he," Grace hesitated and then continued her question, "Is he still alive?"
Zachary nodded. "He's already eighty- nine years old."
"Ah, he's not dead yet?" Alice asked in astonishment.
Zachary frowned.
Grace elbowed Alice under the table.
Alice squeezed out a smile and said, "What I meant was that it's amazing that he could live such a long life."
Zachary wasn't mad. Instead, he laughed and said, "You're probably mad at the fact that he isn't dead yet, but Grandma has passed away instead, right?"
Alice was embarrassed. Zachary could read whatever was on her mind.
She blushed in embarrassment.
