True Fated Marriage novel Chapter 768

Grace was taken by surprise and shocked when she heard the voice over the phone.

It was a voice that had been absent in her life for far too long.

She was consumed with a mix of both a weird sense of the unknown and a hint of familiarity.

She closed her eyes as she suddenly felt a stabbing pain in her heart. It was so painful that she almost felt as if she was being suffocated.

"Can you hear me?" Candace's voice echoed from the other end of the phone. It was so indifferent and cold as usual. Only this time, it was all the more indifferent.

She remembered Candace's voice. It was a little hoarse but distinctive.

"Yes I heard you. So you're back?" Grace responded with difficulty.

"Yes," Candace answered almost instantly. Her voice over the phone was very calm. "Hurry up and come over with Alice. I'll wait for you girls," she instructed Grace in an overbearing manner.

Candace was never there for Grace in any way. Even after all these years, through many ups and downs, she merely just waltz back into Grace's life and ordered her around.

She seemed to have forgotten that she had abandoned her children and left without a trace, and now that she had come back, she ordered them around with not an ounce of guilt.

Grace really felt that Candace's way of thinking was different from that of an ordinary person.

She felt that it was inappropriate for her to demand that she and Alice hurry over to the Smith's house in the commanding tone that she used.

She had no right whatsoever to be commanding Grace around.

"Say something, do you hear me? I'm waiting for you girls. Get a move on," Candace said on the other end of the phone in an overbearing tone.

At that moment, Grace felt extremely cross with her mother's behavior.

She had never been on good terms with Candace. She was even infuriated with Candace bossing her around.

Grace remained silent and did not respond to her.

"Grace, do you hear me? I don't have much time on my hands. Get a move on. I need to talk to you girls," Candace pressed on, her tone became more and more domineering,

Grace's hand which was holding the mobile phone, trembled a little. She responded indifferently, "Madam Lowe, as far as I know, you and my father have nothing to do with each other already. Also, you shouldn't even come back to the Smith family. If you have anything to say to me, you can do so right now. I'm listening."

Grace just could not bring herself to be kind to her. In her eyes, anyone could have abandoned her except for Candace.

She felt that her mother was cruel.

It was so revolting that she could actually abandon her and Alice, especially when Alice was at such a young age.

This was not something that could not be forgiven.

The misery that she and Alice had gone through over the many years of their mother's absence could no longer be expressed with words.

Had Candace came back and apologized, she

would not have been so angry.

But she didn't.

Not only did she not apologize, but she also had the audacity to command her and Alice around.

How could such a cruel being be a mother in this world?

"Grace, since you said so, I understand that you hate me," replied Candance with a tone that sounded like she had had a realization; it was as if she had a thorough understanding of Grace's emotion.

"Shouldn't I hate you?" Grace sneered back at her. "Is there a mother like you out there in the world?"
