Twisted Ties of Love novel Chapter 124

"Mr. Windham, why don't you take a seat and I'll get you a glass of water?" The director quickly stepped in to defuse the tense atmosphere.

Izabella seized the opportunity to run off in the direction of the storage room.

Brett's narrow eyes squinted.

He knew he couldn't push Izabella too hard, or she'd have another episode like before.

But with her being out of sight for a short while made him feel so anxious and restless.

Brett hated this feeling of losing control. Just thinking about Izabella running out and possibly bumping into that idiot from earlier made him want to lock her up in a room for the rest of her life, not allowing anyone to see her.

He was so paranoid and morbid, even thinking that Izabella having an episode in the hospital was a good thing. If she was sick for the rest of her life, he could take care of her properly.

Brett sat down in a chair. Some of the orphanage's furniture was old, like the armchair he was sitting in. The leather was peeling off, making it look rather shabby.

"Can I have a cigarette?"

The director glanced at his face, then at the children nearby, and eventually nodded, "Sure."

Brett took out his cigarette pack, picked one up and lit it. He sat in the old chair, casually checking his watch.

Ten minutes. Even if Izabella went to see that idiot, he couldn't do anything.

The orphanage was small, she knew where the storage room was from her last visit.

When she got there, she found the door wide open, and in the dimly lit room, she could see someone squatting on the floor.

"Ryker, what are you doing here?"

Ryker was arranging presents when he heard Izabella's voice. He quickly raised his head, his eyes slightly red, he clearly cried earlier.

"I knew you'd come," Ryker picked up the gift bag. "Let me take it to the car for you."

"No rush." Izabella looked around the storage room, which was more like a junk room as it had a bit of everything. She sat down, "Have a seat, let's talk."

Ryker hesitated, then sat down next to her, placing the gift bag by his feet. He kept his head down, his expression unreadable.

"Sorry, I said I'd come to the orphanage a month ago, but some thing happened."
