Izabella opened her eyes and stared at the orange-yellow light on the ceiling. Thoughts gradually emerged in her fuzzy brain.
She couldn't refuse Brett for two reasons - One, she simply wasn't physically capable. And two, she was worried that resisting him might make him mad and take away her job.
When she really thought about it, she was basically taking improper shortcuts in her career.
"I don't want to take any pills," Izabella said, pushing against Brett's strong chest.
Brett stroked her hair, becoming somewhat more clear-headed. "Do you really not want to have my child?"
Izabella turned her head to avoid the heat of his breath on her lips. "That's pretty obvious." She thought, unless her brain went nuts, there's no way she would agree to have a child for this despicable couple. And she didn't know what made Brett so sure to even ask her this question.
Brett knew that Izabella's body wasn't well enough to have a baby. However, hearing her saying it without a shred of doubt made him feel heartbroken.
Heaven and hell were only a thin line apart, and Izabella's thoughts went blank for a moment before her vision turned white.
Tears dripped onto the sheets, leaving little circles. Blue veins surfaced on her pale, delicate neck.
Brett's eyes seemed darker, like a vampire's. He reached out and felt her pulsing veins, his lips slowly closing in.
Women usually didn't have as much energy as men, not to mention that she was also sick. Izabella closed her eyes and lost herself in her dizziness.
She was so tired that she couldn't even turn over. Meanwhile, Brett seemed perfectly fine, holding her and occasionally kissing her forehead.
After the storm had passed and calmness finally returned, Izabella found a comfortable position under the covers and closed her eyes.
Seeing her disheveled hair and flushed eyelids, Brett thought she looked especially lovable. His heart softened and he hugged her, whispering like he was talking to a child, "Bella."
Izabella didn't respond.
He chuckled, seeming a bit crazy. Like he'd gotten his favorite toy, he leaned in and kissed the top of her head.
