Twisted Ties of Love novel Chapter 166

"No, I can't agree," Kaley declared, abruptly rising to her feet, tears streaming down her face. Choking back sobs, she continued, "Brett, I didn't come here to end our relationship. I'm just so terrified. You have no idea how scared I am of losing you. Every night, I'm haunted by nightmares that you no longer want me."

Brett's gaze flickered towards Kaley's tear-filled eyes, and his heart skipped a beat. He took a deep breath, extinguishing the cigarette he hadn't even started smoking.

"I made you a promise. I will divorce Izabella and marry you."

Still sobbing, Kaley inquired, "When will that happen?"

"After Izabella has a baby."

So, if Izabella couldn't have a baby in her entire life, would they just continue like this forever?

Kaley didn't dare to ask this question. She felt that if she asked, Brett would get angry. She tried a more subtle approach: "Brett, we don't necessarily need her child..."

Brett frowned. "Izabella is my wife, at least in name. I must have custody of the child."

Kaley was unsure whether she could believe his words or not. She wiped the tears from her face and hoarsely choked out, "Are you telling the truth?"

Brett leaned forward and turned her face to his: "Kaley, I'm the only person you can trust, right? We have court on Wednesday, and Izabella will definitely use you to make her case. You'll be my witness, and you know what to say, don't you?"

The warmth of the moment was gone; all Kaley could do was nod in agreement.

If she didn't agree, Brett would undoubtedly end their relationship based on his current attitude towards her. The thought of her life without Brett was unbearable. She couldn't accept that her decade’s worth of emotions would vanish due to Izabella.

"As long as I can be with you, I'll agree to anything." Kaley murmured in his embrace.

Brett comforted her for a while before calling the driver to take Kaley home.
