Kaley's flight was in the afternoon, so Brett arranged her accommodation in advance and sent someone to pick her up.
It was inevitable that Kaley would run into Izabella when she came to J City, and Brett started to get anxious, fearing things would once again slip out of his control.
When Izabella woke up, he told her that Kaley would come this afternoon.
Izabella was a bit surprised and felt like she had heard the name "Kaley" somewhere before, asking, "Who's Kaley?"
Seeing her lack of reaction, Brett felt slightly relieved, "I forgot you have amnesia, Kaley is the goddaughter my mother adopted."
"So, she's your sister?" Asked Izabella.
"I guess so." Said Brett.
Izabella didn't dig deeper, "Speaking of which, you've never talked to me about your family. Where are your parents? How long has it been since you last went home?"
Brett answered, "last time I went back was three years ago."
"Three years ago?" Izabella slightly frowned, "What's the situation with your family?"
Brett whispered, "My parents passed away in an accident when I was ten."
Izabella was shocked and felt a suffocating pain in her heart. She didn't know what Brett had gone through all these years to be so calm about sharing such a devastating past.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." Muttered Izabella.
Brett couldn't help but chuckle when he saw her teary eyes, gently rubbed her head and said, "It's not your fault. If there's anything else you want to know, just ask."
For now, the Windham family was in disarray, Patrick Windham didn't die, the patriarch position was vacant and everyone wanted to fight for it. It was also the reason his parents died.
In the face of interests, so-called friends and family were insignificant.
"I rarely go back, and I don't intend to take you with me to go back, Bella, do you mind?" Asked Brett.
After thinking about it, Izabella shook her head seriously and replied, "No, you have your reasons. Besides, I'm living with you, not your family."
If Brett never told her about this, she might have complained or even resented him, but now she wouldn't.
Couples should have a basic level of trust, and she knew Brett was for her own good.
The Windham family was probably not as simple as she thought.
Even with physical therapy, Izabella's hands couldn't recover - they were half-crippled and needed help with basic tasks, such as washing her face, brushing her teeth, getting dressed, and even fastening her underwear. She would get super embarrassed, but after a while, she got used to it.
Life with Brett was very comfortable.
His care for her was top-notch.
Every day, regardless of his schedule, Brett would always get up earlier than Izabella, order breakfast and fetch hot water. When she woke up, the toothpaste would be all ready, and he would wash her face gently.
Brett had great taste, and every day the clothes he picked out from the wardrobe were always to Izabella’s liking. There really wasn’t a single flaw that could be found.
Today, Brett prepared a shirt and vest for Izabella. The shirt had too many buttons for her hands to handle, so she relied on the man in front of her.
From the bottom up, Brett buttoned her shirt, and paired it with a cashmere sweater that was both fresh and sweet.
"Can you braid my hair?" Izabella had already gotten used to letting him handle her hair.
Brett agreed, took her to the dressing table, patiently and skillfully braided her hair, and even picked out a crystal hairpin to adorn it.
"Your sister will arrive in J City this afternoon, let's prepare a bedroom for her."
"You don't have to worry about that - she won't be staying with us, I've already arranged a house for her."
