Brett let his anger out on Izabella without taking precautions, only realizing it afterwards.
Izabella had stomach cancer and she couldn't get pregnant. Brett left the room after he hastily dressed up.
Lying in bed, Izabella felt heavy and could hardly move a finger. She watched Brett return with a glass of water and a pill in his hand.
"Take it."
Izabella looked at the pill in his hand, shuddering. What else could the pill be, if taken afterwards?
It's for the best, she thought, as having a child by accident would make it hard to leave when the time comes.
Brett stood by the bed, looking at her coldly. Izabella took a deep breath, gathered some strength, and tremblingly shoved the pill into her mouth with her right hand.
Usually, she needed half a glass of water to swallow a pill, but now she chewed it up and swallowed it mixed with her saliva. The bitter taste of the medicine filled her mouth.
She couldn't help but retch, tears sheding from her eyes. She quickly covered her mouth, raised her eyes to look at Brett.
Her mouth was bitter, but her heart was even more bitter. After the stress reaction subsided, she said stubbornly, "Don't worry, I won't spit it out."
Hearing her words, Brett's eyes flickered, he bit his lip, and in the end, said nothing.
The phone on the bedside table vibrated, and Brett glanced at it. It was Izabella's phone.
He picked it up, opened Facebook, and without a doubt, it was a message from Nathaniel.
Izabella saw it too and silently waited for Brett to speak.
Brett blocked Nathaniel on her friend list in front of her, then deleted him, threw the phone back on the nightstand, and turned to leave.
Izabella looked at his cold back, she always held back her emotions, even when she cried, it was silent. She called out to him.
"Brett."
Brett stopped but didn't turn around.
Izabella continued, "Do you love me?"
"I love you, and only you in this life. So don't even think about leaving me." Watching Izabella with someone else, he'd rather be dead.
He didn't dare to turn around, afraid to see the cold and resolute look in Izabella's eyes. He took a step forward, and this time he left the room and never came back.
Izabella listened to the sound of the car starting downstairs, buried her face in the quilt, and tears moistened the area around her eyes, burning with pain.
After a long while, Izabella changed into a clean set of pajamas and lay back down. Until seven in the evening, Tiara came upstairs to call her to dinner.
Seeing the torn pajamas on the floor, and the cake on the carpet, Tiara suddenly went silent.
Originally, she wanted to come up and talk some sense into them but couldn't because of Brett's terrifying face.
Adrian came upstairs to check on them but saw that the two were just arguing, not hurting each other, so he went back down. After all, they were just hired help, and they couldn't manage their employer’s affairs. Besides, couples argue all the time.
After Brett left, the housekeeper sent Tiara to check on the situation.
Tiara entered the bedroom and saw the scene, getting nervous. She hesitated for a moment, but still went in.
"Ma'am, are you alright?"
Izabella didn't say anything.
