Izabella was out of the danger zone after the blood transfusion, and was transferred to a regular ward.
After the doctors and nurses left, Brett moved a chair to sit beside the bed, holding Izabella's cold hand.
Izabella was really pretty, even her hands were pretty - slim and long. Brett held her hand and his gaze gradually shifted to her belly.
He slept with Izabella every day and knew how skinny she was, with a small and narrow stomach. He really couldn't imagine how such a small space could nurture a new life.
Brett's heart felt like it was being strangled by a rope, stifling and painful.
He comforted himself, thinking that although the child was gone, he still had a chance with her.
He didn't pay any attention to the doctor's words, all that was still in the future. As long as he could take good care of Izabella and be more careful in the future, miscarriages wouldn't be that common.
Izabella had an IV needle in her arm, and was receiving medication. Seeing that the medicine was almost gone, Brett pressed the wall bell to call the nurse to unplug the needle.
Brett checked the time, it was almost three o'clock.
He was supposed to go back for lunch, but with so many things happening, he'd forgotten to eat and didn't feel very hungry either.
Izabella was given lots of fluids, and even more nutrient fluids after that. With so much liquid being injected into her, it felt like her blood had thinned.
The hospital allowed ordering take-out, so Brett ordered a few light dishes, most of which were Kaley's favorites.
He took the food directly to Kaley's ward when it arrived.
Kaley had rested for a while and didn't sleep anymore. Trista was chatting with her, laughing and talking. When they heard a knock, Kaley looked up and saw Brett carrying the food in.
"I ordered your favorite food, come eat."
Kaley smiled sweetly, "Come sit down, let's eat together. Trista already ate, she can go keep Izabella company."
Brett walked over, put the dishes on the table one by one and replied, "She's still asleep."
"No worries, Trista can go keep an eye on her. Just in case she wakes up, there'll be someone to take care of her." Kaley motioned for Trista to leave, clearly trying to get rid of her.
"Yeah, I should go check on her." Trista tactfully left, even closing the door quietly behind her to avoid being overheard.
Brett sat down, "Which one do you want to eat?"
Kaley glanced at the food, "I'll have some soup."
