"You knew from the beginning?"
Kaley's eyes lit up, and she nodded saying, "Trista recently saw Izabella taking some medicine and got curious. Turns out, her daughter-in-law was taking the same pills for her pregnancy."
So he was the last to know Izabella was pregnant? Brett didn't feel great about it and equally didn't understand why Izabella would keep it from him.
Thinking of the lost child, Brett's heart ached. He asked, "When did you find out?"
"Yesterday. I thought you knew, so I didn't tell you." Kaley lowered her head.
Kaley hesitated and glanced at Brett's face before saying, "Before Izabella pushed me down the stairs today, she said a few things..."
"What did she say?"
Kaley hesitated even more, making Brett increasingly frustrated.
"Don't be mad at what I'm about to say. After all, Izabella just had a miscarriage."
Brett stared at her.
"She said she felt disgusted being with you and also said," Kaley paused, looking at him. At that moment, Brett's face was tensed, and the bloodstains on his shirt added a hint of murderousness to his appearance.
Kaley's heart skipped a beat, but she tried to stabilize her emotions before finishing her sentence, "She said she wants to take revenge on us. Brett, I'm not overthinking it. The fact that she said all these things and hid her pregnancy from you, I suspect she deliberately miscarried to make you feel guilty."
Brett's eyes were deep and unreadable, like a bottomless abyss.
Brett appeared calm on the surface, but his hand tightly clenched into a fist. He was suppressing his anger.
"Did Izabella really say that?"
Kaley nodded.
Brett let out a bitter laugh, seeming to understand everything at once. No wonder Izabella kept her pregnancy a secret. She was waiting to strike right here.
Thinking he would feel guilt and regret to fuel her revenge? Nice try.
Usually, Brett's emotions didn't show on his face. Although his heart ached like burning fire, his face remained calm. Kaley couldn't quite tell his emotional state, but she accomplished her goal.
