Everly suppressed her uneasiness and pretended like nothing was wrong. She asked with a smile, "Hera, are we having a meeting?"
Hera cast her a blank look before looking down to continue playing Candy Crush. She asked right away, "What happened with the formula for Emily's medicine?"
"I prepared it according to the formula given by Isla. Then, I handed the ingredients to Sarah so that she could prepare the medicine at noon. Is something wrong?" Everly pretended to be surprised.
"Emily almost went into shock due to her allergies to dandelion root," Isla explained.
Everly let out a yelp. "How could that have happened?"
Hera glanced at her. "How many formulas do you have on hand?"
Everly gulped before calmly answering, "I only saw one formula since Isla didn't tell me anything. Is the patient's condition critical? If I had known that she was allergic to dandelion root, I never would have included it!"
She remembered that there were no surveillance cameras here. So, she was betting on the fact that Hera would believe her more than she did Isla.
After all, Everly and Hera had known each other for more than ten years. Based on Everly's understanding of Hera, her chances were better than Isla's.
Isla widened her eyes in disbelief, staring at Hera. She found it hard to believe that the gentle Everly had lied so blatantly about the matter and even cast the blame on her.
"How could you lie about that, Everly? I clearly gave you the new formula!" Isla exclaimed while hurriedly walking toward the door.
"I handed it to you right here. At that time, you even said that you were about to head to the washroom."
"The washroom here is working fine. Why would I go out to use the washroom?" Everly asked innocently.
She then advised Isla, "I've been learning how to prepare medicinal ingredients from Mrs. Jones for the past seven to eight years and never made any mistakes. Hera and Wayne can bear witness to this.
"Did you get busy and forgot all about it? Are you not admitting to it because you're afraid Hera will punish you?
"Don't be scared. As long as you're willing to learn from your mistakes, Hera will forgive you. Besides, isn't the patient fine now? Just avoid making similar mistakes in the future."
