Hera sighed and ordered takeout for them again. After Nicholas finished eating, he went back to catch up on sleep.
Wayne rested for a while before Hera gave him another acupuncture treatment. Wayne felt much better after. "Thank you, Hera."
"You're welcome." Hera disinfected the used needles. "What happened between you and Everly last night?"
Wayne was a bit surprised that Hera knew he had met Everly. But after thinking about it, he realized that with Hera's and Bernard's capabilities, they had probably figured out most of what had happened by now.
Wayne recalled the way Everly had pushed him the previous night and believed that she hadn't meant any harm. They lost their parents when they were young, and Wayne had raised Everly. He knew her well.
She wouldn't even kill a bug, let alone hurt someone. She was probably consumed by a moment of rage.
Hera was busy, and Wayne didn't want to trouble her with the issues between him and his sister. Hera had been more than kind to them. He felt that it was his responsibility to sort Everly out.
Wayne explained, "I fell by myself. She probably doesn't know."
Otherwise, why wouldn't she have visited him?
Hera was skeptical. "Are you sure?"
Wayne was worried that Hera might look for Everly and added, "It has nothing to do with Everly. I just never expected her to be with Marcus. I'm sorry. It's my fault for not teaching her well. I'll go find her after I'm discharged and bring her back to apologize to you."
He prepared to get out of bed.
Hera stopped him. "No need. I won't hold her back if she has found better opportunities. I just hope she doesn't hurt anyone."
