The reporters swarmed the Chime residence to dig up more gossip. Everly seized the opportunity and accompanied Philip and Jessica on a shopping trip, knowing the reporters would be around.
Seeing that Everly had moved into the Chime residence confirmed the rumors in the reporters' minds.
"Mr. Chime, there's a rumor that Camille is not your biological daughter and that Everly is. Is this true?"
"Now that you've found your real daughter, do you plan to make it public?"
"Given that Camille's actions have caused Chime Pharmaceutical's stock to plummet, don't you plan to clarify her identity?"
Microphones were thrust toward them, and Everly quickly moved to shield Jessica. "My mother isn't feeling well. Please step back so that she doesn't get hurt."
Her referring to Jessica as her mother confirmed that she had been accepted as part of the Chime family. It fueled the reporters' curiosity even more, and they continued to block them.
"I'll answer any questions you have. Just don't hurt my wife," Philip reluctantly said to the reporters.
Hearing this, the reporters quickly turned their attention toward Philip.
Philip began to answer their questions, "I didn't want to address this publicly. But since everyone wants to know, I'll briefly explain it. Indeed, Camille is not my and my wife's biological daughter.
"After the birth of our eldest son, my wife's health deteriorated. She had always wanted a daughter, but I didn't want her to go through that much pain again, so we adopted Camille.
"Later, my wife gave birth to Everly. Unfortunately, not long after Everly was born, she was kidnapped due to a maid's negligence. It wasn't until recently when my wife needed a blood transfusion that we discovered that Everly and my wife are related."
Philip looked affectionately at Jessica and Everly, who smiled back at him.
