Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 628

Hera listened to Roman's confession while she ate the desserts she ordered and finished her coffee. He told her how Linda talked him into swapping the drugs.

From time to time, he'd steal a glance at Bernard. Back then, he wasn't that afraid of Bernard because Linda had his back.

But after leaving the Killian family, he was terrified of Bernard. He was afraid that Bernard would pulverize him if he ever made a wrong move.

All this time, Bernard had been reclining on the couch languidly, scrolling on his phone. Roman wasn't sure whether Bernard was listening.

After telling Hera everything, Roman emphasized, "I admit that I wasn't very happy when you saved the baby in Mom's belly, but it was Linda who talked me into doing it. She even gave me the fake drugs Ms. Chime made! That fool can…"

He quickly changed the way he addressed Xavier. "Xavier can testify for me. He probably saw it when it happened. I don't know if he still remembers it, but I swear that everything I said is true! You have to believe me!"

Holding his breath, he waited for Hera to say something. She took her time finishing up the last of her afternoon tea, seemingly not in a rush to respond.

A while later, she picked up her phone and made a call. Raising his eyes, Bernard caught a glimpse of the number she dialed.

It belonged to Nicholas. A sliver of displeasure flitted across Bernard's eyes. Bernard was right here. Why did she have to call Nicholas?

"Lend me two of your thugs. I need them to keep an eye on someone for me," Hera said through the phone. "I'll send you the location. Send them here right away."

Upon hearing that, Roman glanced up at Hera warily. All of a sudden, he felt someone's piercing gaze on his back.

Glancing sideways a little, he met Bernard's chilling stare. It was as if Bernard was giving him a stern warning that said, "Stare at her a little longer, and I'll dig your eyeballs out of their sockets."

A shiver ran down Roman's spine, causing him to accidentally knock the table and make the spoon clink against the cup.

Even without turning around, Hera could already sense the frosty air radiating off a certain person.

He had scared Roman half to death.

Twenty minutes later, there was a rap at the door of the private room. Shortly after that, Nicholas entered the room with two of his thugs.
