Vincent and Kelly arrived at the hospital an hour later. Alex was already waiting at the entrance.
"Mr. Lewis."
"What's going on?" Kelly asked as soon as they arrived. "Everyone was fine. How did they suddenly all get sick?"
Alex's expression was grave. "I asked the doctor, and they said it's food poisoning."
Vincent's steps halted, and a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes. "Food poisoning?"
"Yes. The first to show symptoms was Ivy, who came to the hospital at 1:00 am. I asked her, and she said she hadn't eaten anything after dinner last night.
The situation is similar for the others, so now everyone suspects it was because the food last night wasn't fresh."
"That's impossible!" Kelly immediately denied it. "All the ingredients in the house were delivered that day.
"I personally checked them several times because we were hosting a dinner. The ingredients were fresh. There shouldn't be any problems."
Alex's expression grew even graver. "If it's not a problem with the ingredients, there's only one possibility left."
Vincent pursed his lips in silence.
Kelly asked anxiously, "What possibility?"
"Maybe… someone poisoned the food."
"Poisoned the food?" Kelly exclaimed in shock. "Our nutritionist prepared the meals last night. Although I didn't watch the whole process, we usually eat the same things. There shouldn't be a problem, right?"
Just as they were talking, a police car arrived and parked behind them. Two policemen got out of the car.
Vincent frowned. "Who called the police?"
"It was Ivy," Alex said. "She had called the police before I arrived."
…
The police officer came to investigate the situation. After questioning everyone, the focus of the collective poisoning incident ultimately turned to last night's dinner.
