Tiffany didn't expect Mandy to be so logical.

"To be honest, is it because of the baby?" Mandy looked puzzled. "I always thought the baby was Vince's. I didn't expect it to not be his."

Tiffany replied, "I don't think I ever said the baby was Mr. Lewis'?"

She couldn't understand how Mandy came to her conclusion.

"You didn't say it, but Vince's level of concern for you and the baby is enough to make me suspect."

"Mr. Lewis cares about me and the baby?" Tiffany asked.

"Yes. Vince specially arranged for the cafeteria food prices to be lowered, salaries to be paid early, and snacks to be added to the pantry for you.

"He knew you were tight on money and worried that you wouldn't eat well, so he had the cafeteria lower its prices. Haven't you noticed that the portions were doubled every time you ordered food?

"Do you know how much the Finance Department suffered because of that early payment adjustment? The snacks in the pantry were because I told him you liked sour food, so he arranged for it immediately.

"He did whatever he could to make you happy without thinking much. He only cared about whether you were treated well and completely ignored what others said or thought.

"Tiffany, I've known Vince for so many years, and I've never seen him care so much about any woman. I went to ask him immediately when you resigned.

"I thought he was being fickle and didn't want you anymore. But he told me the baby wasn't his. Do you know how shocked I was?

"The baby wasn't his, yet he still treated you so well! If your baby was his, I suspect he'd do anything for you! Maybe he'd even pluck the stars and moon from the sky for you!"

Tiffany's heart stirred, and her fingers curled slowly on the table.

Would Vincent really be happy if he knew the baby was his?

Tiffany understood everything Mandy said.

Vincent had indeed been overly kind to her. However, it couldn't be a reason for her to ruin someone else's relationship.
