Eric looked awkward. "I was just being honest. Anyway, I'm her brother-in-law. I'm just teaching her some tips and tricks. It's not like I'm going to push her off a cliff or anything."
Tiffany frowned. She didn't want to explain herself to Eric, but she still subconsciously didn't want anything to smear Vincent's reputation. She said, "Mr. Lewis' girlfriend gave the soup to me."
"His girlfriend?" Eric's smile froze. "He already has a girlfriend?"
"Yeah. They're going to marry soon."
Eric's smile disappeared. It soon returned, though. "That's only normal, of course. Successful men always have more than one woman in their lives.
"Sometimes, the wives don't even stand a chance against the mistresses. You're young and pretty, so you have many chan—"
Teresa cut him off. "I want some warm water, Eric. Go get some."
Once Eric was gone, Teresa asked, "Eric's just being dumb, right? Be honest with me, Tiff. Or does that boss of yours really have those intentions toward you?"
She was worried about Tiffany. She didn't want Tiffany to go down the wrong path and was also worried someone would set their nasty sights on her.
In her mind, Vincent was a middle-aged man with a bulging beer belly. Men like that were generally lechers who loved flirting with pretty young women in their companies.
Tiffany shook her head. "No, he doesn't. He already has a girlfriend."
"That doesn't mean he won't go around flirting with other women."
"He won't. Mr. Lewis isn't like that." Tiffany didn't even realize that she'd already subconsciously sided with Vincent. She was afraid others would misunderstand him and badmouth him.
Teresa wasn't convinced—perhaps it was because Eric constantly mentioned this. She reminded Tiffany to be careful before picking up the bowl of chicken soup.
She took a few sips before saying, "This actually tastes pretty good. Your boss' girlfriend seems to be pretty good in the kitchen. Why did he give it to you, though?"
"He doesn't like chicken soup," Tiffany said listlessly.
