Jim sucked in a deep breath when he heard this.
He suppressed the rage in his heart and tried to stop himself from arguing with Luna. "Of course not! How can we be so careless?
"Not only did we do a DNA test, but we investigated the orphanage that mixed you and Heather up, and we even did a background check on your parents!
"All of the results showed that Aura was the real daughter of the Landry family. On top of that, when Aura finally showed up at our doorstep, we had been searching for you for almost a year.
"At that time, we were overjoyed by this news, so who would’ve thought she was a fake?”
With that, he shot Luna a meaningful look and added," You should know better than us how close you and Aura were in the past. Do you think she couldn’t have gotten her hands on your hair and nails and been able to claim them as hers?"
Luna froze in shock.
She had blurted this out of anger, but as she gave it a second thought, she knew that Jim was right.
After all, Aura had been the one to tell her about the switcheroo at the orphanage, so it was clear Aura had known more about what happened than she did.
Because of this, Aura must have readied all the necessary DNA samples needed in preparation for the Landry family's investigations.
Besides, Heather had also been in on this, so it was entirely possible that the Landry family would be tricked into thinking Aura was their real daughter.
However...
Luna turned to stare at Jim. "Since there's already concrete evidence that says Aura was the real daughter of the Landry family, how did you know she was a fake and that I'm the real one instead?"
Jim closed his eyes and let out a bitter chuckle. "You’ll know after you see Mrs. Landry in person. She's a... very kind person.”
Luna remained motionless and did not move at all.
She refused to believe that a woman who made drugs for a living would be kind!
Seeing that she was still reluctant to go upstairs, Jim let out a sigh and said, "Luna, I really don't want to hurt you physically. If it weren't for the fact that Mother's condition is deteriorating, I wouldn't have brought you here at all.
