"I... " Coralie's answer began forming on her lips.
"Answer me after you think it through. I won't blame you no matter what your decision is. However, if your answer is yes, I will take it seriously. You'll never leave my side ever again."
Interrupting her answer, Skylar interjected with his thoughts.
Coralie looked at Skylar and replied with in all seriousness, "I do. No matter what, as long as it's with you, Skylar, I'm willing to journey to the ends of the earth by your side, in sickness or in health."
"Alright then." Hearing her answer, a long-awaited smile appeared on Skylar's face. Twirling Coralie into his arms, he said, "Can you prepare a warm bath for me?"
Skylar was relieved to hear Coralie's answer.
In fact, Skylar had been yearning to hear her answer, but he feared he was being selfish. What right did he have to bind her to his side for life?
"What?" Coralie was stupefied.
Skylar's change in attitude was so drastic that Coralie needed a while to collect her thoughts. Taking off her down jacket, she ran into the bathroom to fulfil Skylar's request. There was a large triangular bathtub in the bathroom with a shower next to it.
Coralie stood outside the glass door and hollered at Skylar, "Do you want to use the bathtub?"
"Yes."
As Coralie finished her question, she heard Skylar's reply in close proximity. Startled, she turned to see that he was already right behind her.
"Woah?"
Coralie was shocked. She glimpsed a faint smile by the corner of his mouth as he looked at her tenderly. Embarrassed, Coralie replied sheepishly, "The bathtub is too big. It will take some time to fill. Go out and rest. I'll call you when it's ready."
Coralie put the plug in the bathtub and turned on the tap.
Rapidly, the bathroom was filled with steam.
Coralie came wearing boots. As the boots were soaked, she left a trail of black footprints behind her. Coralie asked Skylar awkwardly, "Do you have slippers? I'll change into them."
"I've asked them to send an extra pair over. They'll be here in a minute."
Skylar replied softly as his gaze lingered on Coralie.
Coralie glanced at the bathtub which was slowly filling up and she turned back to Skylar, who was still looking at her. She became flustered, saying, "Can you stop looking at me like that?"
"I haven't looked at you for so many years. I want to make up for all the lost time."
Skylar spoke as if it was nothing to be embarrassed about.
He realised that he was genuinely happy to be together with Coralie. No matter how long he looked at her, he would never grow tired of her.
"Ahem, you and your sweet talk," Coralie chided.
Rolling her eyes, Coralie put up with Skylar's flirtatious advances.
"Ding Dong."
The doorbell rang, and the voice of a doctor could be heard from beyond the door. "President Holland, I've brought the items."
Coralie hurried out to open the door.
The doctor passed her a bag containing pajamas and slippers, which was all she needed to spend the night.
Coralie changed into slippers and walked towards the bathroom, but she was stopped by Skylar at the door as he said, "Put on your pajamas."
"What?" Coralie asked.
"Didn't you say that you would do everything for me? I need to take a bath. You can't be thinking of bathing me in a sweater, right?"
Skylar asked calmly.
In contrast, Coralie grew more flustered as her cheeks grew hot.
"Help, help you bathe?" Coralie asked, clearly embarrassed.
"Are you going back on your word?" Skylar teased.
He knew that Coralie was not one to go back on her words; she was merely embarrassed. Just as before, Coralie would easily become nervous and at a loss for words with a few witty remarks from Skylar.
