"What are you doing?"
Earlier, Franklin had wanted to leave and he didn't look towards Lucille's direction. Needless to say, he did not expect Amelia to approach him with the intention to slap him.
Lucille took the slap for him. Yet, Franklin did not look pained. Instead, a trace of hatred flashed across his face.
"Franklin Moore, those years you had chased my daughter so passionately, but now you've betrayed her! What kind of man are you?"
Amelia's hands were trembling in anger.
Yoel was even more delighted to stand by and watch the whole ruckus.
Speaking of which, the person whom Yoel hated the most in A City was Franklin Moore.
That was because his dream was to become a man like Franklin, who had slept with all of the female celebrities and changed his girlfriends like he changed his clothes. It was better than how Yoel was, depending on rich middle-aged women to survive.
"Auntie Harington, I truly liked her, but why should I not enjoy a good life and help her go to prison? If she doesn't want to go to jail, why would I?"
Franklin looked at Amelia mockingly.
Franklin paid no attention to Lucille who had taken the slap for him. There was even an imprint of a palm on her face!
Seeing this, Coralie felt a little unhappy. She could clearly see from Lucille's expression that she was feeling very aggrieved.
She looked at Franklin with a look of expectation. It seemed that she was hoping for his concern, but Franklin did not say anything.
Just as Coralie was about to walk over, Yoel, who stood the nearest, was one step ahead and pulled Lucille aside. He said, "President Moore, this lady took a slap for you. Aren't you going to thank her?" As he said that, he gently touched Lucille's face. "Does it hurt? I'll help you find some ice for it later."
Yoel's tone was very gentle, as if he was protecting a treasure.
Lucille was still very young and it was clear that she was still innocent. When she saw how close Yoel was to her, and how he was speaking to her in such a tone, she immediately blushed.
When he saw her like this, Yoel couldn't help but raise the corner of his lips, revealing a charming smile.
"Huh, Auntie Harington, is he really a lawyer? Isn't he one of your boy toys?"
Franklin finally couldn't bear to see it anymore. He grabbed Lucille by her sleeve and pulled her over to his side.
Hearing Franklin's words, Amelia could no longer keep a straight face. "Yoel, mind your own business. Why did you stick your nose in other people's business?"
"Okay, I just couldn't stand it anymore."
Yoel said as he glanced longingly at Lucille before he took a step back.
However, he quickly saw Coralie and Skylar at the back. Yoel's memory was good and he immediately recognized them as Xenia's friends.
Yoel returned to his own seat and tidied up his things in order to keep up his act.
Amelia felt upset at the thought of Yoel's concern for Lucille earlier. As she turned to look at Lucille, who stood next to Franklin looking delicate and pitiful, she felt that Lucille was a b*tch.
"Franklin Moore! You are forgetting your old love when you now have a new lover. Even if you are not together, you used to love my daughter. What right do you have to hurt her so much?"
At that moment, Amelia could only vent her anger on Franklin!
"Auntie Harington, you are mistaken. She was not my old love. I was just used by her."
Franklin was very accurate about his position.
When he saw Valerie's earlier outburst, he realized that his job here was accomplished. After he spoke, he turned to leave.
"Franklin Moore!"
Amelia was completely enraged!
Franklin did not pay any mind to her at all. He just took a few steps and saw that Lucille still foolishly stood there. He turned his head impatiently and said, "If you don't want to go, just stay here then."
Only then did Lucille react. She quickly picked up the bag on the chair and ran out with a silly smile, trailing after Franklin.
Coralie watched from the side and was a little shocked. "Did Franklin treat Lucille like this last time?"
"Last time, his parents were around, so he was faking it."
