When Lucille heard what he said, the words she was about to say got stuck in her throat.
"How could I forget..." Franklin murmured as he held her in his hands.
She dropped her arms, and she did not respond, nor did she reply.
This was really not the time for that.
She looked at him blankly. Had he remembered it a few years ago, she would be overjoyed. If he remembered it before he had an accident, perhaps she would be happy too.
However, at this very moment, her heart was in turmoil because of Marvin's death as well as the assaults on the Internet.
"Franklin..."
"I am here."
When he heard Lucille calling him in a low voice in his arms, he responded gently.
"Do you think that my dad really died with his eyes wide open? Would he really not forgive me?"
When she spoke, her bloodshot eyes looked ahead blankly, dull and not moving.
Franklin raised his hand, gently rubbed the woman's hair, and said, "No, your father is different from Alma. He loves you, and he understands you too."
His voice was filled with pity.
"Really? I want to go out to see him. Tell me, how am I supposed to go out?"
She raised her head and stared at him.
She spoke slowly. Her voice was soft, and her body was leaning against him weakly.
In her current state, it would be difficult for her to even walk to the door, much less visit her father's grave.
"You should go to bed. I will find out where Marvin is buried. After that, I will find a way to take you out."
"It's fine. I can still sleep at night..."
As she spoke, her fingers became weak and the brush in her hand fell to the ground with a sound.
She was stunned for a moment and bent down to pick it up. Her hand grabbed the top of the brush, but she failed to grab it. After she reached for it again, she noticed that the brush was a little lower than her hands. After that, she finally got hold of it.
Franklin saw all of it.
This was caused by the wrong judgements from her eyes due to the extreme fatigue she felt.
"Take a shower and go to bed now!"
As Franklin said that, he immediately carried her up.
"You can't say you're fine!"
He spoke as he walked with an overbearing tone.
He was not used to coercing women, but this time, Lucille was still being stubborn. He was infuriated.
He carried her all the way to her room, and only Marie was there.
"Marie, please bring her pajamas over here."
Franklin went inside and ordered her.
"I can take a bath by myself..." Lucille wanted to struggle, but she was too weak. She could not get rid of the man's embrace, and even moving was difficult for her.
Franklin completely ignored her, going straight to the bathroom.
Seeing this scene, Marie was stunned at first, but she understood immediately. "I will get it right away."
After a while, she brought a new set of pajamas and placed it on the basin of the bathroom. She closed the door before she left.
Lucille had taken a shower a few days ago, but because her clothes were too dirty, as well as the fact that her hair was tainted with paint, she gave him a feeling that she hadn't taken a shower for a long time.
He first filled the bathtub with water. After that, he took off her shirt and wanted to unbutton her undergarments...
"There's no need forthat. I can do it myself..."
When she realized that he was really going to help her take a bath, she hurriedly blocked him in terror.
