Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl Novel novel Chapter 396

Chapter 396

1/2

The next day, Pearl used her hacking skills and found Richard’s address. She rushed over to his place early in the morning.

Richard was watching the news, his fingers busy taking down notes.

“Richard, I need to talk to you.” Pearl picked up the remote control and turned off the TV.

Richard didn’t say anything, but his fingers trembled a bit as he continued working.

Unfazed by his lack of response, Pearl forcefully took the pen away. “Jenny and Hugo are still in touch. Do you know about this?”

“Yes, I knew.” Richard’s expression darkened, and a cold look appeared in his sad eyes.

“Did you also know that they slept together?” Pearl pressed on.

Richard frowned slightly, his face showing a mix of emotions. “Why are you telling me this?”

Pearl remained firm, her voice sharp, “Hugo is your supposed brother, and he got involved with your ex. Are you still going to be with Jenny?”

“It’s none of your concern.” Richard looked away and resumed his work

“Tell me that everything you did was fake, Richard. You can say you’re in a tough spot, and I’ll believe you.”

Richard couldn’t hold back anymore. He slammed the notes on the table, his face icy. “Stop causing trouble, Pearl!”

“Do you really like me, Richard?”

Richard remained silent, casting a cold atmosphere in the room.

Pearl’s last hope rested on a simple question, “I’ll ask you one more time. Tell me the truth. Do you still have feelings for me?”

“I used to.”

Richard’s voice sounded unclear and hoarse, crushing Pearl’s heart.

She turned pale and bit her l*p. “Richard, let’s forget about everything between us.” She clenched her fists, digging her fingertips into her palms without feeling any pain.

It turned out that what they said was true. She had foolishly held on until the end, only to hear that he once liked her.

After Pearl left, Richard stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the city skyline. His dark eyes stared into the distance.

After a while, he made a phone call.

“I’ve broken up with Pearl.”

“Did she initiate it?”

“Yeah.”

“This girl is quite stubborn. If she hadn’t initiated the breakup, she wouldn’t have given up easily.” The man’s voice was aged, but remarkably cheerful.

“Can you release my mother now?”

“Well, as I said, if you’re willing to be with Jenny and let Pearl break up with you on her own, I won’t give you a hard time.” The man laughed. “When Pearl’s engagement is over, I’ll let your mother go. Don’t worry, I won’t hurt her.”

Richard took a deep breath, “I understand.”

After leaving Richard’s place, Pearl stood on the street, feeling lost. She didn’t know where to go now.
