Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl Novel novel Chapter 405

Chapter 405

In the dim light, a faint blue glow reflected from the person’s watch.

Pearl instantly recognized him. Instead of shouting “thief,” she stealthily approached him and covered his mouth, whispering, “What are you doing here, Richard?”

Richard made no comment upon Pearl’s easy discovery. Instead, he turned and firmly gripped her wrist, gently pulling her

into his arms.

Pearl couldn’t break free from his strong hold and felt herself enveloped in his embrace, as if he wanted to meld her into his very being

“Don’t go through with the engagement.”

“Why?”

“I love you.

Momentarily stunned, Pearl sneered at his words. “That sounds hypocritical, Richard, considering what you did. I don’t even know how to talk to you.”

“I did it for a reason. I

“It’s because your mother was kidnapped, so you suffered in silence and forced me to break up with you. And we did break up, right?”

Pearl’s straightforward words caught Richard off guard. “How did you know?”

“Master Jordan told me everything on the first day I returned.” Pearl sighed heavily. She took a step back, putting some distance between them. “But I never expected you to tell me nothing. Master Jordan was right. How could you have me when you didn’t even dare to be with me?”

“I just didn’t want you to be caught up in my chaotic life.” Richard’s usual composure wavered, and he held Pearl tightly once

more.

“If Master Jordan could stop us once, he could keep doing it. I couldn’t predict what other ways he might use to threaten me. So, I decided to break up with you and let you be happy. And you know what happiness is? It’s being together no matter what happens. You should know that I’ll never come back to you once you push me away.”

Pearl’s words struck Richard deep in his heart. Slowly, he released his grip on her. “I’m sorry. I was a coward.”

“Richard.”

“Yes?”

“I went straight to find out where they were holding your mother when I learned about her kidnapping. And I got it resolved. We could have rescued her at any time. I just have one thing to say to you now.”

“Go on.”

“I’m giving you a chance. Take me away.” Pearl looked into his eyes with seriousness, taking the risk that he would cherish her more this time and understand her importance.

Love wasn’t about holding back, suppressing emotions, or hiding

The crisis they faced this time was just a part of life’s challenges. They would encounter more difficulties in the future. Pearl didn’t want to be the one left behind every time; she wanted to face their challenges together.
