Alpha Raze's Surrogate Mate novel Chapter 2

AMBER

The other voice says words indistinct to me because of how lost I am. I snap out of my shock, so I can pick up their every word.

"It's a good thing you have them under control. I've never doubted your ability, future son-in-law." The voice says.

I finally recognize who owns it. Alpha Jared, of Whitemoon Pack. The old traitor and my father are supposed to be best friends.

How the hell could he conspire against him like this?!  And what, future son-in-law? What's he talking about?  "Thank you, future father-in-law." Reece laughs. "Damn, saying that feels so good.

I really can't wait to finally be a part of your pack and family. Your daughter is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.

It'll be magnificent to have her as my mate."  My fingers quiver as he says more words and I grab a bit of my dress to keep it from quivering so much.

"How do you plan on getting rid of Amber? The young girl is naive and immature. She might have a hard time accepting your rejection.

What if she tries to fight back?" Alpha Jared asks.  "Fight back?" Reece scoffs. "Oh please. Amber can't even hurt a fly. She's just a weak omega, hated by her father.

I've been doing her a huge favor by sticking around her till now.

So if I want out, she has no choice but to accept it."  "Accepting it is one thing. Surviving it is another.

I might want you for my daughter, but I still got a bit of conscience. Amber is too innocent.

Rejecting her might be detrimental to her weak wolf."  "And that's supposed to be my problem?" Reece scoffs nonchalantly. "Her pain is my gain.

Besides, I can't spend my whole life next to a stupid, weak werewolf like her. I might just strangle her to death just to free myself from the bond."

"You hate her that much?" Alpha Jared gives a mock laugh.  "I just love your daughter more. She's all that matters to me now.

Not some stupid, weak Omega werewolf who doesn't see the red flags." Reece snorts.  Tears clog my vision and I can't fight them back.

I let out an involuntary whimper that attracts their attention. They finally notice me.

Alpha Jared huffs and walks away with a carefree stride, like he didn't just backstab my father a few seconds ago.  "How long have you been standing there?" Reece asks with a murderous glare, walking towards me.

The logical reaction is to run away but I'm too petrified to move. He gets to where I'm standing and smacks me hard on my face.

"How long?!" He yells, grabbing my hair in a tight grip. "Say it. Fucking answer me!" He yanks my hair, hurling me to a corner.   I take a major fall, bruising my knee on the floor.

He picks me up, grabbing a handful of my hair and holding my chin tightly.  "Long enough to know you want to sell our pack off and reject me as your mate!" I yell, struggling to free myself from his grip.

"How dare you eavesdrop on me?!" He smacks my face again. I yelp in pain, forcing myself out of his grip. My hand goes to my stinging, reddened cheek and it only infuriates me.

"How dare you plan to betray my Father after all the trust he has in you? How dare you, jerk?!" I yell painfully.

"What?" He arches his brow. After seven months of living through his abuse, this is the first time I'm talking back at him. Of course, he has to be surprised.  Having two abusive men in my life has been really frustrating and exhausting.

With my Father, I try to be a bit more understanding. But with Reece, I still can't believe he turned out like that.

The first time I saw Reece was during our pack's fighting contest years back. It's held yearly and Father always awards the winners.

Father forced me to attend and there, I saw him.
