“Get lost.”
Charity shook Chester’s hand off.
The man’s tall figure suddenly swayed before he fell onto the floor together with the bowls.
Charity was instantly dumbfounded.
She never expected Chester to be so frail.
It was true that she was stronger now as she had to carry her child…
However, she would not have been able to…
Could he be trying to arouse her pity?
After the thought flashed across Charity’s mind, Larissa noticed a flurry of activity in the dining room. When she came out to take a look, she was startled. “Oh, Chester. How did you fall? I told you to stay seated and that we’ll clean up the table. Charity, what are you looking at? Hurry up and help him up.”
“Oh.” Once Charity recovered from her musings, she squatted to hold Chester.
Her gaze subconsciously turned to Chester’s prosthetic leg. When he was wearing pants earlier, she didn’t realize it. However, now that his pants were rolled up, she could see that the prosthetic leg was artificial. Even so, one could easily tell it was totally different from a real leg as the prosthetic leg was hard.
Somehow, an uncomfortable feeling crept up inside Charity.
“Aunty Larissa, I’m alright. I accidentally slipped and fell just now.”
Chester’s waist and shoulders hurt from the fall, but the fall was real. When he stood up, he always relied on the strength of his one real leg because using the prosthetic leg for a long time would hurt his joints. Hence, when Charity suddenly pushed him just now, he was caught off guard, and what was more, he was holding some plates.
After hearing that, Charity cast a conflicted look at him.
“Stop moving around. I won’t blame you even if you don’t help me out.”
