The following dawn.
Marguerite couldn't recall how long she'd slept, but when she awoke, she found herself in an utterly unfamiliar environment.
The minimalist decor, a low saturation of grey and white, had an artistic taste to it.
Where was she?
Marguerite hesitated, just as the room door was gently nudged open. A man in a white housecoat entered, carrying an IV bag.
She glanced up and was surprised to find Steven standing there.
Was this Steven's bedroom?
"You're awake? How do you feel?"
Marguerite propped herself up, feeling nothing but exhaustion. Her head no longer felt dizzy.
But she was still confused, "Why am I here?"
Steven walked over to Marguerite's bedside, removed the IV tube from the empty bag and replaced it with a fresh one.
"You collapsed in the middle of the street last night, and I happened to be passing by. Instead of resting at home with a fever, you were wandering around. Aren't you concerned about the baby in your belly?"
He found her on the street?
That wasn't right!
She distinctly remembered being chased last night and hiding in a park.
She should've fainted in the park, so how did she end up on the street?
And before she passed out, she'd seen a man pick up her phone!
Her phone?
Yes! Her phone!
Marguerite quickly asked Steven, "Where's my phone? Is it here?"
Without any rush, Steven pulled out a phone from the drawer and handed it to her, "It should be yours, but the screen is shattered."
The shattered screen didn't matter, as long as it still worked!
She had some incriminating photos of Garnett on there, which she had risked her life to take!
Marguerite hastily unlocked the phone, only to find a series of missed calls from Frederick.
