Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 631

Marguerite pursed her lips, her eyes dulling at the mere thought of Maurice.

"He's playing a game with me. I bet he wants me to willingly walk down the aisle with him."

Miley was fuming, her words tangled in her anger:

"Is that guy out of his mind? It's practically a shotgun wedding, and he expects you to be all hearts and flowers about it? Wants your body and your soul? Greedy as a pig, that's impossible!"

Robert was gently steering the wheel, pondering over Marguerite's words, and soon offered a different perspective.

"Men and women think differently. Women care about love when it comes to marriage. But for a selfish guy like Maurice, whether you're willing or not doesn't matter. Forcing his way is a true display of power. There must be some compelling reason he hasn't married you yet."

Miley, ever curious, pressed on, "A compelling reason? Like what?"

Robert shrugged, "Who knows?"

At that moment, Marguerite finally lifted her weary gaze to Miley, forcing a tight smile.

"Enough about him, he just gets under my skin. Whatever his reasons are, I couldn't care less. He can keep dragging his feet for all I care. Whoever wants to marry him can go right ahead, but count me out!"

Miley clamped her mouth shut, disappointment etched on her face but logged the conversation in her mind.

Soon, Robert dropped them off at Poppy Petal Fragrances, and they made their way through the lobby toward the elevators.

Miley, recalling last night's efforts to play wingwoman with Robert, couldn't contain her renewed interest and bubbled up to Marguerite.

"Marguerite, about last night with Mr. Winston..."

Marguerite threw her a look, teasingly asking, "What about him and me?"
