Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 698

Margaret hadn't even opened her mouth when Frederick's arm came to her defense.

He locked eyes with Daphne without the slightest hint of evasion, but his words were aimed at Maurice.

"Pretty slick with the double standards, aren't you? I take Margaret out for some legit business, and that's a problem, but you parading around with other women is fine?"

Maurice sneered in response, "Cut the crap."

Cut the crap?

Hearing Maurice talk like that, a cold smirk tugged at Margaret's lips.

Whether Maurice had really gone through with that vasectomy was another matter, considering Margaret hadn't seen the supposed medical report Daphne mentioned. But his dalliance with Daphne was an open secret, so how could he have the gall to accuse others of talking nonsense? It was as if he thought his web of lies had everyone fooled, not realizing Margaret was well aware of his dirty little secret. And there he was, putting on an act in front of her as if everything was just fine. Disgusting!

"Whether I'm talking nonsense, you know best. Let's head inside, shall we? You seem in a hurry to deal with your 'business.'"

Frederick raised an eyebrow, his tone dripping with irony. With a casual sweep of his arm, he nonchalantly draped it over Margaret's shoulders, blatantly disregarding Maurice in full view of everyone as they headed towards the villa's entrance.

Maurice was known for his pride, so Frederick's blatant disregard was sure to infuriate him. But to a man like Maurice, his anger would hardly compare to the importance of securing a deal with Stella. After all, if it were any other day, Maurice would have chased after them. But today, he didn't.

Yet, Stella's reaction when the topic of wafer technology came up was quite telling. Margaret worried that Stella, with her loose lips, might actually end up partnering with Maurice.

Feeling anxious, Margaret asked, "You're just going to let him walk in on the wafer tech deal?"

Frederick's smile held a hint of mystery, "Who ends up with it is still up in the air."
