Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 699

In this world, no one understood the depth of Frederick's hatred for Maurice better than Marguerite herself!

Years ago, Maurice had cunningly tricked Frederick, making him give up the entire Winston family estate.

Marguerite fervently wished for Frederick to make a grand comeback—not just to reclaim what was rightfully his, but to deliver a decisive blow in the process.

Frederick was known to be a formidable force, and Marguerite was certain that if he decided to act, Maurice wouldn’t stand a chance.

But recently, she sensed a hint of hesitation in Frederick’s tone. Could he be having second thoughts?

In the ruthless world of business, there was no room for sentimentality. Was Frederick really going to let this slide?

Marguerite was on edge, desperate for a clear answer.

Yet, Frederick merely smiled enigmatically, offering no clues.

Determined, Marguerite pressed on, "What if Stella actually decides to team up with him? Are you really going to just stand by and watch Maurice get away with illegal activities? Think about the victims, the people who will suffer! Who knows what Maurice will do once he gets the wafer? He could treat those people like puppets!"

Frederick simply looked at her, amusement flickering in his eyes before he finally let out a laugh.

"When did you become such a crusader for justice, Marguerite? Trust me, Stella would never entertain Maurice’s offer."

"Crusader?!" Marguerite, parched from her passionate speech, grabbed a soda that Violet had packed for her and took a few gulps.

Frederick couldn’t tell if she was quenching her thirst or her jealousy with the way her tone soured.

"You seem awfully fond of calling her that."

"Don’t make your jealousy so obvious, Marguerite. You know I’m terrible at comforting people."

"You!"

Frustrated, Marguerite gave Frederick a light shove as she stood on the step and then turned her back on him, refusing to give him another glance.

Damn it!

Even though she knew Stella and Frederick were just friends, hearing him call Stella "that girl" sparked a twinge of jealousy.

"That girl"—that was a term of endearment!
