Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 711

To be frank, when Frederick lashed out with his last remark, Marguerite felt a twinge of perverse satisfaction. There was something in his tone, a hint of urgency and concern, that she couldn't help but find amusing.

Shivering in the chilly air, Marguerite Miley couldn't help but smile. Why did she enjoy this so much? Shaking her head in amusement, she glanced down at the parchment in her hands, her mood suddenly turning bittersweet.

Teresa wasn't Maurice's child, which should have been good news. Yet, Marguerite couldn't shake off a sense of confusion. Who was Teresa's real father? And how was she supposed to explain this to Teresa? Momentarily at a loss, Marguerite didn't have to wait long before Frederick pulled up beside her. She handed him the report as soon as she got in the car.

"Maurice's vasectomy report."

Frederick, much like Marguerite, barely glanced at the report before tossing it onto the dashboard.

"Daphne brought you here?" he asked.

"Who else?"

"Good. The lab overseas has received Teresa and Maurice's DNA samples. We'll have the results in a couple of days."

Marguerite's breath hitched at the thought. With Maurice's vasectomy report in her hand, and the pending DNA test results, she would have leverage to negotiate.

But deep down, she knew it wouldn't be easy. Maurice was meticulous in his dealings. By exposing his secrets, she was ready to burn bridges, unwilling to let Teresa live under Maurice's dark shadow forever.

As Frederick drove toward the city, the scenery outside the window shifted, the desolate shadows giving way to scattered lights.

"By the way," Marguerite turned to him, "Daphne had a message for you. They're quite determined to get their hands on the wafer technology."

Frederick, steering with one hand, replied, "Maurice is headed to Veracoria in three days, probably to negotiate about that with a hacker."

"Are you going with him?"
