The second Dominic entered her home, Bella immediately explained to him about the weird phone call she had just received.
He seemed to be in deep thought before he asked, "Do you think they want me to end all of my collaborations with Victor?"
Bella shook her head. "I don't know. She only said those words. Weren't you unable to guess the reason behind Victor's real intentions in approaching you? Do you think there's a chance that he really has some ulterior motives?"
Dominic seemed to have his own opinion on the situation as he said, "You don't have to worry about that. All of my projects that are somewhat related to Victor will end in the first half of the year.
"If there really are any issues, I just won't work with him on any other projects. I'll also turn down any projects he tries to introduce. Even if he has any ideas, he won't be able to harm me in the next few months.
"Besides, that call might also just be from someone in the industry deliberately trying to cause trouble. I'll check and verify it myself.
"Victor has brought me benefits that no one else can match. I'm not inclined to give up such a valuable connection yet. Sometimes, taking certain risks might bring unimaginable rewards."
Bella calmed down and gave the situation some thought. His words did make sense, but she just couldn't help but panic after she received the phone call just now, afraid that he would fall into a trap.
But considering the fact that Victor had known Richard when he was alive, there was also a chance that he just wanted to help out the son of an old friend and had no other ulterior motives.
She calmed herself and reached her hand out. "Where are my keys?'
He took out her keys and placed them in her hands. "Here you go."
She looked at him suspiciously. "What did you do with my keys?"
He purposely avoided her question and said, "Nothing. Are we eating out tonight or staying in?"
She rolled her eyes at him. "There are a lot of ingredients in the fridge. I can't just let them all go to waste and throw them out. I'll go and cook. You can sit here and rest. You'll have to leave once you finish dinner. Don't even think about staying the night!"
He sat back on the couch. "I wasn't planning on staying even if you wanted me to. I can't handle doing it every day either. You'd end up sucking me dry."
