Sylvia served all of the food she made onto the table before leaving with Dominic.
Looking at the hot food on the table, Bella was filled with a mix of emotions. But her feelings for Dominic were now leaning toward exasperation.
She was feeling quite full after she finished eating, so she went to the couch and looked at her phone.
Dominic had sent her a message not long after he left her house, "You'd better apologize to me."
She pursed her lips and replied, "Why should I apologize? I didn't say anything wrong."
Dominic was furious and immediately called her. "Are you that excited to see me get married? Are you just trying to get away from me? Are love and relationships just a game to you?"
She was full and in a good mood, so she ignored his anger and said softly, "I've always treated relationships seriously, but it's so tiring to be in a one-sided relationship. I've thought things through and decided to let you go. Isn't that normal? It's not like you don't have a number of people wanting to pursue you. Don't tell me you just enjoy the feeling of being chased. Are you a bone or something?"
He replied angrily, "Are you a dog?"
She was momentarily speechless before she asked, "By the way, how did you get into my house?"
Dominic did not answer her question and hung up the phone immediately.
Bella felt emotionally drained. What on earth was going on in his head? When she was infatuated with him, he had been indifferent, even disdainful. Now that she was over him, he seemed unsettled.
After that call, Dominic did not contact or reach out to her again.
Bella figured he might actually be angry, or maybe his little burst of interest in her had worn off. Since she was still learning to let go and keep her composure, she didn't reach out to him either.
In the blink of an eye, the holidays were over. However, the holidays did not apply to those working in healthcare.
