Before falling asleep, Bella sent Dominic a quick message about the strange call. She didn't wait for his reply and drifted off.
The next morning, she found a message from Dominic. He had looked into it and said Victor was unlikely to be a problem. Instead, the issue seemed to be with the caller. He advised Bella to ignore any future calls from that number.
Feeling reassured, Bella got ready and went to the hospital as usual.
After putting on her white coat, the first task was rounds. In a rare turn of things, Simon's wife, Blair Patton, came to visit him that day.
She looked around the shared ward with obvious disgust, as if even breathing the air was beneath her.
Dressed in designer clothes, she exuded a sharp contrast to Simon's pitiful state. It was a reminder of her last thread of dignity.
She looked at Bella disdainfully. "You ruined your father and left him in this pathetic state. Covering his medical bills, hiring a caregiver… Who are you showing off to? If you really cared, why not ask Dominic for a company? You should let your father live with some dignity."
Bella calmly said, "Dominic's assets are not mine to allocate. Just like if he wants you gone, I won't be able to stop him. There's a saying, 'You reap what you sow.' If you've got the nerve, go shout at him yourself."
Blair flushed with rage. She said as her voice dripped with sarcasm, "Having a man to back you makes you so bold, huh? Your mother may have died young, but she didn't forget to teach you how to seduce men."
Bella merely chuckled. "It's a shame your daughter passed too soon to learn your 'talents.'"
That struck a nerve. Having had enough, Simon intervened and said, "Enough! Bella, go on with your rounds. She's only here to demand a divorce… Sorry about this."
Expressionless, Bella left without a word, but she felt a quiet sense of victory.
At noon, Dominic ordered her an extravagant takeout meal. The meal was more than enough for one person, with ingredients that could cost thousands in a restaurant.
