Bella was extremely dazed and reluctantly opened the door. She tried to appear extremely tired. "I think I'll pass. I was on shift last night and am exhausted. I just want to rest at home."
Wesley looked like a tyrant as he swung his car keys. "I'm taking you for a spin to relax yourself. When you're tired, you need to relax."
She rejected his offer once again, "I'm too old for joyrides. You go on your own. I can't keep up with you youngsters. Let me off the hook, will you?"
His eyes glinted slightly as he asked, "What? Are you scared?"
Obviously, he was trying to provoke her, but Bella didn't take the bait. "Yes, I'm scared."
Upon hearing her answer, Wesley laughed exaggeratedly as he clutched his stomach. "No way! Is it that terrifying that I'm pursuing you? Or could it be I'm not your type of man? Give me a few years, and I'll be like Dominic. I'm no worse than him, whether it's family power or appearance. I'm only younger, so that should be an advantage, right?"
The mention of Dominic hit a sore spot for her, and her mood plummeted. "I really don't want to go. You have fun by yourself."
He didn't press the matter further. "Fine. Everyone's like this after a breakup. You can call me anytime you get tired of being lonely."
Bella wanted to kick him, but she lacked the courage. She knew she couldn't win a fight and couldn't afford to upset someone like him.
Wesley still came across as too young and reckless. She couldn't figure out which powerful family he came from to be so arrogant. In Joville, no one could rival Dominic in terms of wealth and status.
…
A month passed uneventfully without much warmth until the weather eventually warmed up, and fresh buds sprouted on the bare trees by the roadside.
