Ethan handed her the medical report. "We ran some tests when you fainted. If we had known you were pregnant, the department head would never have let you work so hard. We usually show extra care to pregnant colleagues."
Bella burst into tears when she saw the report's black-and-white image of the fetus. She had been doing all she could to avoid thinking about Dominic. It seemed like life was playing a huge joke on her.
Tears stained the paper as she sobbed hysterically, feeling as if the sky had fallen.
She had already aborted one child before, and she couldn't bring herself to do it again.
Hence, Bella decided to keep the child and raise them on her own. She had no plans to inform Dominic.
Ethan was at a loss watching her cry so intensely. "What's the matter? This child belongs to Dominic, right? Please don't cry. It's not healthy for the baby."
"I'm alright. You can go back to work. Don't worry about me. As for the pregnancy, don't mention it to anyone. It's not Dominic's," she wiped her tears away and responded calmly.
The information shook Ethan. "It's not his?"
However, Bella didn't provide any further explanation. She knew it would be hard to hide her pregnancy from Dominic. Hence, she decided that no matter what, she would deny that the child was his.
Ethan didn't press further and advised her to rest well before leaving the room.
Due to her fainting incident and pregnancy, the department head graciously granted her two days off to relax at home. He also promised to transfer her to a different department as soon as possible so that her job wouldn't be so tiring.
After recovering, Bella returned to her apartment. Upon hearing her unlock the door, Wesley popped his head out through the door and asked, "Why are you home so early? Don't tell me you were fired."
She wasn't in the mood for jokes. "I'm not feeling well."
