Lia laughed bitterly. She questioned, "Then what about me? Bella, I'm not entirely stupid. I did sense that Leonard had feelings for me a long time ago, and I had deliberately kept my distance.
"I thought he'd be swamped with work once he had to inherit his family's business, so I decided to take this opportunity to distance myself from him slowly.
"Who knew that he would confess just because Zion is his cousin? Hence, I can't back down now. If it were anyone else, I would not be able to do anything, and I would have to succumb to his wishes.
"More importantly, I really do feel that Zion is the one for me."
Bella could not interfere much as it was a matter of Lia's personal affairs. The most she could do was give Lia some advice. She only hoped that Lia had made the right choice and would be able to live happily with Zion.
…
A few days later, Dominic returned from his business trip and sent Bella a photo of a crib she had sent to him before.
He had not only bought the crib but also placed it in his home. He probably thought that her place was too small for it.
Suddenly, Bella felt an inexplicable sense of fear. She wondered if Dominic was planning to raise their child in the Miller Manor once it was born.
It was only then that she realized that she did not even own a house, as her current place had been rented to her. She quetstioned how Dominic could possibly allow her to raise their child when she didn't even own a place of her own.
She did not reply to Dominic's message. She was so frustrated that she skipped lunch entirely.
In the afternoon, Cara pushed open the door to Bella's bedroom. She seemed to be talking to someone on the phone.
"Ms. Jones is currently resting. She doesn't seem to have a good appetite today as she skipped lunch."
Bella felt her brain go blank. She hired Cara, but once Dominic took over paying her salary, Cara seemed to shift her allegiance to him.
Whenever Dominic wanted to know what she was doing, he could call Cara and find out everything he wanted to know.
